Mothers Day at Grady's birthday party
Sargie and her sons

46 degrees/partly cloudy/calm winds
Pentoga Road

I'm so grateful the nice weather lasted though the weekend. Looking at this coming week, it appears there's only one day that rain and thunderstorms aren't in the forecast.

I made Sargie a special Mother's Day treat Sunday morning, beignets, a sugar donut from the mix that was a given to us from Holly, Jeanne, and Nancy, a souvenir from their recent vacation to New Orleans.

Though not as good as those served in the Cafe Dumont, the fried bread was mighty tasty.

Sunday was Grady's third birthday. We left midmorning and drove to Iron Mountain to help celebrate.

Since I'm running late this morning and the pictures are self explanatory, I'll let them tell the story.

Living at the end of a cul-de-sac, cars lined both sides of the road for quite a distance. Grady's a popular guy.

Mel (Mommy) made the cake herself.
The birthday cake eaten, it was time to open presents.

The fact that it was Mother's Day wasn't lost on Sargie's sons. They gave her a HUGE card along with the best gift of all, lots of hugs, kisses, and I Love You's.

The party ended around 4 PM and after a quick stop at Home Depot, we made our way home.

Sargie immediately began working in the house and I busied myself applying sealer to the deck. The back deck was finished as was half the front porch before I ran out.

Sargie opens today. I'm heading to town first thing to purchase another gallon of water seal. I'd like to finish the front porch before the monsoon sets in.

I have hopes of working in the garden, but I'm not sure the weather will cooperate. One thing is certain, I need to run outside right now and cover the trailer load of compost before it gets soaked.

After all, a man's work is never done.

So are the tales from Pentoga Road...
