Wait a minute! The forecast called for only one inch of snow. Where did the other eight inches come from? |
18 degrees/cloudy/calm winds
Pentoga Road
The name of the game for Sunday was S-N-O-W. We were told to expect one to three inches of fluffy stuff before it moved on.
It was a pretty snow and I didn't worry too much about Sargie having to drive to work as no wind was forecast.
In fact, she drove the Kia, our fair weather vehicle, rather than the more rugged four-wheel-drive Blazer.
Meanwhile...
My son, Luke, beat me out onto the ice this year. He found some crappies during his first ice fishing trip out onto a local lake in southern Maine.
Luke's a good fisherman, always has been. If there are any fish to bring up through a hole in the ice, he'll find them. We're a week away from beginning our ice fishing season in the Upper Peninsula.
I headed to the shop after Sargie left for work. A couple of projects were cleaned up and are ready to send or wrap as gifts. Another snowman was also turned on the lathe.
While I make mere trinkets in the shop, Mississippi Brother Garry is producing quality Christmas ornaments along with plates, bowls, pens, and other goodies. He sent this picture the other day.

I returned to the house Sunday afternoon in time to watch the Packers beat up Seattle and increase their playoff hopes. It's going to be a horserace to the finish line.
Sargie made it home in good shape, although she said the roads were slippery. I'd made a large pot of potato/bacon/cheesy soup and we enjoyed that along with grilled cheese sandwiches for supper.
After, I headed outside to plow the drive and clean the patio.
Little did I know that another three or four inches would fall during the night.
At one point, the snowblower quit working. After no small amount of muttering, I discovered the gas line was clogged and used the air hose to blow it clean. Unfortunately, it also blew gas all over me. My heavy winter coat spent last night in the washer.
The four wheeler and plow were used to clean the drive. Since the snow was so light and fluffy, it was fairly easy and with warmer temperatures, enjoyable.
Yooper Brother Mark sent a picture last night of his outdoor activities, grilling chicken!
He was shoveling snow while the chicken was cooking. His mama didn't have no dummy either!
Sargie finished decorating last evening and I think we're ready for Christmas. She has our home looking beautiful.
Today is Sargie's last day of work before beginning her vacation and it's just in time as tomorrow is her birthday. As sister-in-law Debbie said, she'll be twenty-nine.
I'm going to ride down the road with Sargie this morning and walk home. The drive needs to be plowed again, the patio cleaned. There are some errands to run in town later on and of course, I'll spend time in the shop. It's shaping up to be a busy day.
But after all, are really surprised?
Everyone knows that a man's work is never done.
So are the tales from Pentoga Road...
