The Paint River on Sunday afternoon

With a cursor that's out of control this morning, I'm not certain how much I'll be able to use this computer.
It's been acting up for a few days and has taken on a mind of its own. I've resorted to using an external mouse and certainly, that's much better. I ordered a new trackpad last night and it should arrive in the next few days. Until then, I'll make do.
Sunday was an absolutely picture perfect day, well, it was until the Green Bay Packers game. Sargie and I showed up, Yooper Brother Mark watched, Andy was listening in Louisiana, my buddy, John, in Alaska was watching... everybody showed up for the football game except the Green Bay Packers. Other than one or two players, the entire team forgot they were supposed to play hard and win. I am beginning to have these flashbacks, PTSD, of the 1970's and 80's, when the Packers were the laughing stock of the NFL. We're not that bad... yet, but certainly the team is in a steady decline.
Oh well, it's like I told my friend, John, who was watching from Sitka, this will separate the fair weather fans, those who only follow our beloved green and gold when they win, from those of us who live, eat, and sleep, Green Bay football. With the good comes the not so good. Right now, things aren't great.
I spent a couple of hours in the shop on Sunday morning working on the current project. I am hoping to spend more time today and tomorrow and hopefully, will have everything finished by week's end.
The large spruce tree at the side of the house had several low hanging branches that needed trimming. For whatever reason, I decided Sunday morning was as good a time as any.
This is the most important tree on the property. It not only shades the house, it also supports the internet antenna fastened up high towards the top. |
I used the electric pole chain saw so there was no ladder work. After the limbs were gathered, I used the tractor and front end loader to take them to the burn pile.
Sargie and I went for our drive after stopping at the local deli for fried chicken. One of the more interesting places we visited was an old collapsed mining pit with crystal clear water, located about ten miles from here.
It's a popular hangout with area divers. While talking with one man, I learned the clarity of the water allows for unprecedented viewing and that there are huge boulders and large cliffs that sink into oblivion. Most of those old mining shafts are thousands of feet deep.
Back home and licking my wounds following Green Bay's loss, I spent time at the dining room table working on the computer.
It was a good excuse to clean the inside of the machine. I don't know how it can get so dirty, but it does.
Sargie opens this morning. I'm going for my walk then will take the day as it comes, hopefully in the shop. With the nice weather of this past week, I've used every excuse I can think of to stay outside. This is the first year in memory that the house and grounds are ready for winter.
Oops, coffee's done. Time to get this show on the road.
After all, a man's work is never done.
So are the tales from Pentoga Road...
