High atop Mount Hambone sat a little boy named Grady. It took over half an hour to complete the solo climb, but in the end, Pentoga Road's youngest mountain climber and explorer was victorious. |

Pentoga Road
We like to celebrate big accomplishments on Pentoga Road and when a two year old mountain climber sticks with his plan and makes a determined climb, it news worthy of making the web page. Mount Hambone has been conquered!
Wednesday was a busy one. Sargie left for work and Grady was soon calling my name from his bed upstairs. We did the diaper change, poured his juice, and had breakfast.
It was soon time for a bath and to get those toofers brushed. Grady does both at the same time.
With a clean body under clean clothes, we took off for town. Our first stop was at the plant to see Uncle Yooper Brother Mark.
Grady also took the opportunity to catch up on the news with Ann, Mark's assistant.
There was a fly in the office and Grady wasted no time in grabbing a hanging fly swatter and swinging. It appears Ann barely had time to duck.
After a quick visit, we made our way to the grocery store where Hambone immediately spotted the car/grocery cart.
We went up and down each and every aisle with Grady trying to honk at anyone in our way and if we had to back up, it was very important we both went, "Beep-beep-beep." No doubt people were wondering who that crazy old man was with the little boy who drove like a maniac.
Once home, we got to work throwing any loose wood back into the pile in preparation for covering it for the winter.
Grady was in charge of the smaller pieces, Pawpaw the heavier ones.
When one is two years old, piling wood is fun, but not something a guy wants to do for more than a minute or two. Play with Brutus? Now that's much more fun!
It was approaching late afternoon by the time we came inside. Grady was getting whiney so he went off to bed for a nap. Pawpaw thought he'd sit in the recliner for a few minutes. The next thing I knew, Grady was calling for me. We both had fallen sound asleep and slumbered for over two hours.
Macrea and Sargie, both, arrived shortly after six last night. Sargie had made a big pot of ribs the night before and we enjoyed those, squash, mashed potatoes, and homemade cole slaw, before seeing the boys off. Suddenly the house was eerily quiet.
Mt. Hambone is covered and ready for this winter's first snowfall, forecast to happen this weekend. |
Sargie and I had no trouble sleeping last night. She opens today so hopefully, she'll be home early tonight. I'm going for my walk first thing then we'll see what the rest of the day brings. I think I'll try making a Christmas ornament or two in the shop and there are a couple of legitimate projects I need to begin, both using the scroll saw.
I'm running late this morning and it's time to get this show on the road.
After all, a man's work is never done.
So are the tales from Pentoga Road...
