Look who stopped to see Grandma Sargie Saturday afternoon!
August 21, 2016 - Sunday
52 degrees/cloudy/windy
Pentoga Road

".... and the rains came a tumbling down."

Whew, did they ever! Another 2.9 inches fell over the past thirty-six hours on Pentoga Road. The rain began in earnest Saturday morning and as of last night, it was still misting.

I like to watch the Rhinelander, Wisconsin, weather forecast as it seems to be more relevant to our area than Carl the Weatherman's Great Lake prognostication originating from Marquette. According to Rhinelander's weather person, we're seven inches over the yearly average in precipitation. For sure, no one's well is going to run dry this fall.

With all the rain this summer, the giant pumpkin vine planted by the barn has wrapped itself around all four pyramid planters. All this growth (large leaves) is from ONE seed that was planted on the other side of the solar collector.

Andy and family must have traveled from northern Maine to visit Matt and Jessica in New Hampshire over the weekend. Some terrific Grandpa pictures arrived in my inbox yesterday afternoon.

Bennet and Ivy
Emerson
Yooper Brother Mark and Sheri stopped to visit yesterday afternoon. Earlier, Mark had sent a picture of their bowling team's annual gathering. Several couples usually spend a day on a large pontoon party-barge cruising a series of connected northern Wisconsin lakes.

Due to the rain and wind, yesterday's cruise and celebration was cut short. Still, there were several hardy souls who made the best of some very wet and windy weather.

I worked all day in the shop and finally finished sorting out the tool bins.

Once again I found it difficult to work from my recliner. Somehow or the other, I lost about forty minutes of the day behind closed eyelids. I'll blame the comfortable recliner coupled with the sound of falling rain.

In the end, the bins were moved into the barn and everything put in place. I'll begin rearranging the shop today to make room for the new lathe.

I finished Saturday with a visit from Mark and Sheri, also doing laundry.

Sargie's off today after six very long days of work. It's cool, cloudy, and gray. I hope she sleeps in, at least as much as she wants to.

I'm going to feed the pumpkins then head out to the shop and experiment with different layouts by rearranging the benches and saws. Eventually, I'd like to install a central dust collection system, but everything has to be set permanently in place before that happens. It's all a process.

After all, a man's work is never done.

So are the tales from Pentoga Road...
