It's been a full year since we enjoyed fresh garden tomatoes off the vine. BLT's are on the agenda for this weekend!

Pentoga Road

Boy, talk about a non-happening. I'm trying to remember one thing I did yesterday that stands out in my mind. Nothing does. The day was hot and humid and after wringing out my clothes following my morning walk, it didn't take long to retreat to the comfort of the air conditioning and turn into a slug.

I drove to town for a couple of errands and stopped at the plant and gabbed with Yooper Brother Mark. I also talked to Dave the Mechanic.

The squeak is back in the Blazer, so on Dave's recommendation, I ordered the rest of the pulleys and a new serpentine belt. One pulley had to be special ordered and it will be next week before Dave can install everything.

I'm predicting a horrible winter due to the sudden increase in mouse activity. With that in mind, I made several bait stations from plastic ice cream containers and placed them around the perimeter of the house, under the porch, and deck.

While talking with an exterminator last year, I learned the best way to keep mice out of one's house is to attack them on the outside. The battle lines were drawn Thursday morning. Just call me Brave Heart.

Ivy and I had a great video session yesterday afternoon. We let Daddy, Andy, talk a bit, but mostly my youngest granddaughter and I discussed the upcoming Packer's game (last night's) and life in general.

Since few Packers games are televised in northern Maine, I promised Ivy I would text her occasionally during the contest.

Other than sit on my backside, the last major activity of the day was to scrub the living room couch with upholstery cleaner.

It had dried by last evening and came out looking really good. I'd like to catch the fat slob who calls it home every evening and slops onto the upholstery. Oh, that's me. Never mind.

Last night was spent in front of the television coaching the Packers onto victory. At one point, I was texting Andy in Maine, Yooper Brother Mark, locally, and my good buddy, John, in Sitka, Alaska. It felt like Sports Central here on Pentoga Road.

Sargie had to close and wasn't home until late. She didn't seem too sad to have missed most of the Packers game.

Assuming it doesn't start to rain, I'm going to go for my usual early morning walk this morning. Today's a five-miler. I'm planning on working most the day in the shop and barn and continue my quest to rearrange and clean both.

Of course, there's that silly after-lunch nap that's become almost mandatory. Just half an hour of good snooze time can propel me right into evening.

First, it's time to get another cup of coffee and think deep thoughts... but not until after I feed the pumpkins.

After all, a man's work is never done.

So are the tales from Pentoga Road...

Andy and I have decided that Ivy's going to attend the University of Wisconsin at Green Bay, be a cheerleader at the university, and moonlight on Sunday afternoons by cheering at the Packers games.
