Sargie spent a goodly amount of time on the mower Monday afternoon. |

Pentoga Road
I decided to write this evening as we'll be pulling out fairly early Tuesday morning and begin winding our way south.
Mom and I took Brutus to the kennels first thing Monday morning. He enjoys playing with the other pups and didn't hesitate to try to get into the car when I opened the door. Unfortunately, his back knees are so weak that I have to lift his back end and shove him in.
When Sargie volunteered to mow the lawn Monday, I didn't hesitate to accept her offer. While she mowed, I trimmed and worked in the garden.
So far, we've had exactly the right amount of rain for the flowers to thrive and bloom.
The moss rose, especially, are beginning to bloom in mass. I planted bunches of them in all the flower boxes.
The hybrid scarlet nasturtiums planted earlier in the spring are jumping to life in the pyramid planters. Blooms are peeking out from behind the dark green leaves and I fully expect the entire planter to be a mass of red blossoms in another few weeks.
By afternoon's end, the lawn was completely mowed and trimmed.
We've gone from mowing the grass two times a week to cutting it once every two to three weeks.
We're planning on leaving Pentoga Road around 7 AM Tuesday morning. Our destination is Galesburg, Illinois, where Dad is buried beside Mom's parents, Grandma and Grandpa Reinhardt.
We should get to Mom's in Terre Haute, Indiana, Wednesday afternoon. Once we get her settled, Sargie and I will begin winding our way back north. We're planning on taking our time, smelling the roses along the way.
It's time to get this uploaded and think about packing before heading to bed. Early morning will be here before we know it.
After all, a man's work is never done.
So are the tales from Pentoga Road...
