Sargie's bringing us into Bloomington, Illinois at midnight on Thursday.

68 degrees/sunny/calm winds
Bloomington, Illinois

Ah, Bloomington, Illinois, home of Illinois Wesleyan University, where I earned my undergraduate degree. I attended band camp not far from here during my junior high and high school days and graduated from high school in Pekin, Illinois, just forty miles to the west.

Central Illinois has a lot of nice people and even more corn and soy beans. It's the coldest place in the winter months and reminds me of a steamy oven during the summer. The area is flat, I mean FLAT. The highest point in McLean County (where we are now) is three-hundred feet. I used to laughingly refer to the small rise as Mt McLean while I hoofed up and down the road, barely noticing the incline.

We left Iron Mountain yesterday afternoon at 5 PM. I sat behind the wheel and drove as far as Janesville, Wisconsin. Sargie took over after and we arrived in Bloomington around midnight.

We were really tired, but happy to make it so far. Right now, we're just a bit over two hours away from Mom's.

Yesterday was a busy one. I dropped Brutus off at the kennels then took Sargie to work. The next stop was the garage where they aligned the front end of the Kia and made the car trip worthy. I think the boys did a good job. So far/so good.

Once home, I mowed the grass then spent the rest of the day getting ready to go, sweeping the floors and doing last minute honey-do chores.

We had a wonderful drive, but then we usually do. Sargie and I ate, talked, and laughed the entire way and late last night, when it was getting late and she was growing tired, we sang songs from old musicals and movies like Hello Dolly, Love Story, Romeo and Juliet and even did a few Barbra Streisand, Jimmy Durante, and Neal Diamond imitations.

According to Google Maps, we're a mere two hours and fifteen minutes away from Mom's. We'll pick her up late this morning, grab some lunch, and point the car back north. Our ETA for Pentoga Road is for sometime Saturday, early afternoon.

I need to get the car loaded as it's time to haul out of here and I'm running a bit late.

Above all, just remember, Love means never having to say your sorry. Time for this preppy to get busy.

After all, a man's work is never done.

So are the tales from Pentoga Road...
