A family group photo if ever I saw one
May 23, 2016 - Monday
46 degrees/clear/calm winds
Pentoga Road

It wasn't the sound of a babbling two-year-old that awoke us this morning, but rather a flock of wild turkeys, the toms chasing the hens around our side yard in a frantic attempt to make turkey love. It's that time of year.

Sunday zoomed by entirely too fast. The day began with me working in the garden for a couple of hours before Grady awakened.

All three of the giant pumpkin plants are doing well. They're back on the heavy fertilizer regimen again, pushing their growth as quickly as possible.
I made some repairs to a couple of the triangular beds, recharged the soil in each with compost, and even planted one before Grady awakened and was ready to start his day.

Page Two:

There's nothing like a two-year-old to change the direction of one's day. What had been a calm and peaceful morning turned into a super charged affair complete with lots of energy and chaos.

Hambone's been taking some antibiotics to fight a childhood bug. In the old days, munchkins fought taking medicine. Today's generation seems to relish the thought.

It was medicine time right after breakfast and appears as though he got more peanut butter on his face than in his mouth.
Grady was anxious to help PawPaw in the garden. It was time to plant peas.

I wish my knees would bend like his. We made the holes with a dibble board, then Grady began by carefully placing a pea seed in each hole.

That continued for about three minutes until he found a plastic spoon and decided it was more fun to play in the dirt.

Grady's favorite garden activity was to water everything, including himself and his grandpa.

With the peas in the ground, we got Grandma Sargie and headed to town on the four-wheeler.

Our destination was Yooper Brother Mark and Sheri's.

They treated three very hot and dry bikers to Italian Ice... Otter Pops, Freezies, Suckies... whatever you want to call frozen Cool Aid in a plastic wrapper. Whatever it was, it tasted delicious.

Macrea was already here when we arrived home. After a car ride and visit, the boys headed home. I know one little guy who was so tired he could barely keep his eyes open.

Sargie helped to measure and pound the stakes to mark the footings for the garden arbor last night. I hope to begin digging holes and pouring concrete this week.

Problem is, it's been a couple of months since I made the components for the arch in the shop and I need to reacquaint myself with the entire process before I can continue.

Page Five:

Sargie's back to work today, but has Tuesday off. I'm going to continue planting and hope to finish today. It's to be in the 80's so I'm not sure how many holes I'll actually dig, but time will definitely be spent on planning the arbor before the final push begins to complete it.

So with that being said, it's time to listen to the news and think deep thoughts.

After all, a man's work is never done.

So are the tales from Pentoga Road...

The woods alongside the yard are filled with trilliums, millions and millions of beautiful white flowers.
