Granddaughter, Ivy, is putting in some quality reading time. Andy said he and his daughter read on the same level.
May 6, 2016 - Friday
42 degrees/clear/calm winds
Pentoga Road

It's going to be a scorcher today with 85 degrees forecast. I'm already wearing shorts and a short-sleeved t-shirt. Let the hot weather come. Tomorrow's high is only to be in the low 60's.

After my usual walk on Thursday, I bit the bullet and tackled the last strawberry planter.

I've been dreading redoing the pyramids for quite some time and now that all four are finished, I'm thankful for this mandatory down time due to the surgery. Sitting on Sargie's garden cart while working and using it to transport dirt allowed me to get the pyramids finished this week.

Red nasturtium seed is already planted in the middle tiers on the two sunny sides with moss rose on the top and the remaining strawberries on the bottom tiers. Impatiens will be planted on the more shaded sides where the sun doesn't reach. Should be an interesting combination.

It was time to crank up the lawn mower. Since the oil was changed towards the end of last summer, I decided to wait until I can get a new filter to change fluids. After tightening, greasing, and cleaning, the rider was deemed ready for the upcoming summer. The old Cub ran like a Deere.

I wish the grass would stay this green and plush all summer. The recent rains of last week has made the lawn resemble a golf course.

Sargie was home early last night and we had a quiet evening together. She was busy cleaning house while I tried to put numbers onto paper regarding purchasing an expensive trike. I don't know, I've talked myself in and out of buying the machine a hundred times. I know I'll use it, but it's so much money. Who knows?

Grady's coming and will be with us from tonight into Sunday morning. Between the shingles and hernia, we've not had the little bugger for a few weeks, so we're excited. Tomorrow's not to be as nice as the last two days, but I doubt he'll care. I'm planning on spending the day outside with him. He's a boy. I've got dirt. It's science.

With that being said, it's time to move along and get today started. On today's agenda: walking, planting onions, and cutting up seed potatoes.

After all, a man's work is never done.

So are the tales from Pentoga Road...
