December 2, 2015 - Wednesday
30 degrees/cloudy skies/calm winds
Pentoga Road

The fingers are flying over the keyboard this morning in an effort to complete today's blurb before Grady awakens. Sargie was up 5:30 so she might do her early morning magic before Grady is up and around. After that, it will be chow time, a quick bath for the little guy, and both Grandma and munchkin will be leaving for Iron Mountain.

Other than Sargie doing several loads of laundry yesterday, nothing much was accomplished on Pentoga Road. That doesn't mean we weren't busy.

Heavy snow fell throughout the morning, but thankfully it was warm and by noon, any that continued to fall melted as soon as it hit the ground.

I used the occasion to mount the plow on the four-wheeler and scrape the drive.

If it's true, that temperatures are really heading into the forties this weekend, the pavement should be dry and bare which is rare for this time of the year.

Check out Grady's bulldog stocking cap
We took our drive into town and upon arriving home, the three of us made a snowman.

I'm not certain Grady was so much into rolling huge snowballs as he was attempting to stay upright in his heavy boots and snowsuit.

He started wearing his snow mittens, but they refused to stay on his hands. In the end, it meant another trip to Grandpa's sock drawer. It was warm enough that they worked quite well.

Grady was busy in the living room last night. I've never seen a little guy who is so content to have two old people and a bulldog for company. When one of us is not giving him our attention, he's happy to play by himself, sing, talk to an unseen friend, or have a conversation with Brutus.

Brutus grows a bit tired of Grady's affections during the evening hours so we've created a happy place for the bulldog. When Grady first arrived, we turned the coffee table on its side as a barrier to the wood stove. Brutus walks around the end and can lay in his customary place away from the tottering bulldozer. It all works out well.
The baby was content to drop off to sleep while being rocked on my lap last night.

Both Grandma and Grady will be off in a little while. Sargie will leave him at his mother's on her way to work, although I caught wind that he'll be back with us this coming weekend.

I'm going to walk my three miles this morning then play in the shop the rest of the day. I have visions of getting the letters mounted on the sign, then working on the cross and rose later this afternoon.

But first, it's time for this morning's first cup of coffee and listen to the news.

After all, a man's work is never done.

So are the tales from Pentoga Road...
