She's spunky. She's sassy. She's today's modern gal. It's granddaughter, Emerson, playing in the water on Friday. |

I can't tell if it frosted or not last night, but I rather imagine it did. It all depends on the ground temperature, how much dew fell, and naturally, the temperature. I either brought in, or covered, the flowers and some cherry tomatoes before dark, but otherwise, I'll let nature take its course. Everything else, including the pumpkin, is too big to cover at this stage of the growing season.
We do enjoy snatching a cherry tomato off the plants growing on the trellis by the barn. They are worth saving for as long as possible. |

The exterminator who sprays our house once a year for flies and critters showed up yesterday morning. I was happy to see him, but that meant I had to vacate the house for at least four hours.
Part of the time was spent in the barn and shop. I finished installing all the electric and began putting up the insulation.
The technician who sprayed the house told me about a lake that is supposed to be fantastic for ice fishing, one that many people aren't aware of, and it's located not far away.
It was time to go exploring. I spent much of the day chugging around the back roads, even managed to get lost once, but found several bodies of water that were beautiful and looked promising.
I even drove around a section of our local reservoir and noticed it's drained down several feet in preparation for next spring's usual runoff when the snow melts.
In the end, I was only about twenty miles from Iron Mountain and it was the time of afternoon that Sargie would be going to lunch. I made a stop at Home Depot for the board used to cover the ceiling in the shop, purchased a few other necessities, and had lunch with Sargie. It was late afternoon before I arrived back home.
Mark and Sheri came out last night to pick tomatoes. Otherwise, I spent the time covering the flowers and waiting for Sargie and Grady.
Grandma and baby were playing when I went to bed at 10. Grady woke at 2 this morning, but I rubbed his back until he fell back to sleep. So far, he's still sleeping this morning.

Sargie is working today, so we guys will be on our own. It's to be a nice day and I'm planning on spending most of it out of doors. I've got a huge burn pile to set on fire and figure Grady can watch from the safety of his stroller. I think we'll take a four wheeler ride, maybe put up another roll of insulation, perhaps go for a walk. Hey, it's all stuff guys do when there are no women around.
After all, a man's work is never done.
So are the tales from Pentoga Road...
How about this camera, Grandpa? |
