Sargie's vinca vine that we overwintered in the basement is blooming.

Whew, it's been a busy day. The weather was absolutely perfect and the time flew by.

The yard needed mowing as did the meadows, pastures, and trails.

Consequently, I spent the first four hours Saturday morning trimming and riding the mower.

When I was younger, I used to chuckle at old guys who dressed like this. Suddenly, I've become one.
With the recent rains, the grass and trees are a deep green and it seems everything is growing and blooming. Unfortunately, the bugs, mosquitoes and ticks mostly, are also alive and well.

Friday night's trail cam produced a family of raccoons.

Next on the agenda was to hang the first three of eight Venetian blinds in the living room. Once again, the tape measure and I did a dance of measurements. The last window proved to be the most challenging and as I was attempting to force the blind between two end pieces, it broke in two. It was a good thing Mama wasn't around. She'd have had me biting a bar of soap.

I called Sargie and she picked up another before coming home. I still have five more blinds to hang early next week.

It was later in the day when I headed to the garden and noticed the first potato is showing. It looks as though many others are just below the surface.

I planted two types of winter squash, cantaloupe, carrots, and beets this afternoon.

The cucumbers have sprouted in the greenhouse and will be planted outside in the garden towards the end of next week.

Sargie was home early and spent much of this evening washing the living room windows. After a winter of burning wood, neither of us realized how dingy they'd become until they'd been washed. They sure look nice now.

We'll be heading to Marquette Sunday morning to attend Grady's first birthday party. We have several stops for groceries and other items to make in the big city after.

It's time for bed. Sargie's about finished with her nightly pre-bedtime ritual and it's becoming a chore to keep my eyes open.

But then are we surprised? After all, a man's work is never done.

So are the tales from Pentoga Road...

Dandelions anyone?
