A long abandoned farmstead. The picture was taken while on our drive Sunday afternoon.

43 degrees/rainy/windy
Pentoga Road

It's cold and rainy this morning. We badly need the precipitation and with heavy rain forecast through the morning hours, we'll be grateful for whatever falls. There's a fire burning in the wood stove and it's cozy warm in the house. Let 'er rain.

Sunday was lazy affair on Pentoga Road; very lazy, in fact. I had the backache from hell on Saturday night and took an 800 mg Ibuprofen, plus a dose of generic nighttime sleeping aid before going to bed. I vaguely recall telling Sargie goodnight and the next thing I knew, it was 9:45 Sunday morning. I certainly made up for any sleep that might have been missed in the past year... or five.

Sargie did a bit of housework on Sunday, I swept the rug in the living room then messed around in the barn doing nothing for a bit.

Later, I lay back in my recliner and once again fell asleep, this time for an hour.

We went for a long and leisurely drive in the afternoon, heading west of town, driving back roads that we seldom travel.

We were back home late Sunday afternoon and enjoyed a good Mother's Day meal.

We talked to Mom last night. She'd spent Friday night at my sister's and attended my niece, Christy's, graduation from nursing school on Saturday in Indianapolis. Mom said she'd had a good weekend and visit.

Sargie's back to work today. It appears this will be an inside day for me. My first goal is to finish cleaning the barn and shop. I got a good start earlier this spring and today might be the perfect opportunity to finish it.

Other than that, I'm thinking an after-lunch Grandpa nap might be on the agenda. Cloudy, cold, windy, and rainy, all combined with a cozy fire in the stove... sure enough, all the ingredients are there.

But then are we surprised? After all, a man's work is never done.

So are the tales from Pentoga Road...
