December 20, 2014 - Saturday
19 degrees/cloudy/calm
Pentoga Road

Friday was a laid back day on Pentoga Road. Sunny and calm, it looked warmer outside than it really was. Still, I put on a few layers of clothes later in the day and took off for the lake.

Grady decided to sleep in, so after Sargie left for work, Macrea, Mom, and I, had bit of sitting in the living room, sipping coffee, and simply enjoying being lazy. I knew Macrea had a busy weekend ahead and I was glad we could visit before he had to head back north.

Sure as a heart beat, Grady began to stir and he was soon entertaining us.

Mom, also known as Great Grandma when Grady's around, played with him one last time and of course, so did his Grandpa Pennington.

We sure enjoy the little bugger and his daddy's company.

The house was once again quiet and after a few quick instructions on how to work the television and music systems, I took off for the lake. In the end, I might as well stayed home. I caught a few small bass and one decent northern pike, (that I gave away to another luckless fisherman) but in the end, the fish I most sought after, bluegills and crappies, eluded me.

I talked to two other fishermen who had the same results. They couldn't find any fish either. We all know they are in the lake, no one seems to be able to find them. I will, sooner or later, oh yes, I will.

I was expecting Yooper Brother Mark to come fishing with me sometime in the early afternoon, but he was held up at the plant and arrived just as I was leaving. I was pulling the sled into shore and received a text from him asking how the fishing was. I stopped, replied, and continued pulling the sled across the lake. Another text, another stop. Finally, I was by the shore and going to reply once again when he answered me in person. The goofball was there all along. I simply hadn't seen him. Hmm, paybacks... there'll be a few!

Mark followed me home so he could visit with Mom. We're getting eager for Sarah, Curtis, and Baby Izzy Sue to arrive on Christmas day. As I've mentioned earlier, I think half of the UP is anxious to hold and play with Izzy... Auntie Sargie and I included.

Sargie was home early last night. I fried chicken and sweet potatoes and we ate like the three little piggies we know how to be. The evening was spent mining gold in Alaska on the Discovery Channel with bedtime soon after.

I'm not sure what's in store for today. Sargie has to work until 5. I think Mom and I will play it by ear and see how the mood moves us. I've got plenty to do, I just don't know if I feel very ambitious.

After all, a man's work is never done.

So are the tales from Pentoga Road...
