12 degrees/clear/calm
Pentoga Road
It's an unofficial record-breaking cold we're experiencing this morning. The old record is 16 degrees, but when I got up at 3 AM to put wood in the stove, the thermometer was registering 15 degrees and heading downward.
Sargie is feeling much better and thank you to those who texted, emailed, or called. We spent most of Friday in the emergency room, over six hours, and in the end, Sargie walked away with a prescription in hand and a diagnosis that the crystals in her inner ear weren't functioning properly... or in line with Jupiter and Mars... or something like that. The main thing is that she's feeling much better and it appears we'll be heading to Marquette after a bit later to resume where we left off yesterday morning.
So today's Baby Grady day, FINALLY. I figure we'll come home, maybe toss the football around the yard, go trap some coyotes, and later, belly up to the kitchen table swigging Orange Fanta or his Grandma's favorite, Coke. Failing that, I'm pretty sure he will enjoy his formula mixed with rice and be snuggled and cuddled by Grandma. I might even pry him away so we can have a little guy time; you know, spit and whittle and talk Packers football.
With ice fishing temperatures already here, there are several things that need done later today. I doubt Grady will be able to tow the backhoe in from the trails so that and other tasks will be left for me. If only he had my life. The mini-boy has yet to learn that a man's work is never done.
So are the tales from Pentoga Road...
We live in the Upper Peninsula of northern Michigan near the small ghost town of Pentoga Village and the Brule River. Family, friends, hiking, wood working, gardening, fishing, photography, and of course, writing, are my passions. Join me daily as I write about our lives and this magical place we call Pentoga Road.
