Granddaugher Emmie. She'll celebrate her birthday later this month. Emmie's the spittin' image of her daddy, so much so that we're going to rename her "Mini Me," from the Austin Powers movie. |

There's not much to write about today and I'm not certain I took the camera out of my pocket yesterday. It was that kind of day.
Andy sent this picture taken aboard the boat from which he works in the oil fields off the coast of Alaska. |
The rest of the day was spent working in the basement. I insulated places that needed it, cleaned out any mouse residue, sprayed, disinfected, scooped, pitched, stored, and might have even danced the hootchie coo more than once. Thankfully, it appears I've plugged every single nook and cranny as we've not seen fresh signs in several days. Between the caulking gun, spray foam, some simple carpentry, and mouse traps, we appear to be mouse free, at least for today.
I quit working in the dungeon mid afternoon and drove to Iron Mountain to take advantage of a free oil change in the Kia that was given to us when we purchased new tires for Sargie's car. That done, I hung around and waited for Sargie to finish work then we rode home together. I'll ride with her this morning and drive the Blazer home.
So that was my day... yawn. There was no building of sky scrapers... or storage buildings, no felling of trees almost as tall as California's giant redwoods. It was pretty mundane.
The weather forecast is for rain and/or snow for the foreseeable future with temperatures well below normal. This global warming is killing me. I'm going to have to bite the bullet either today or tomorrow and get the winter squash in from the garden; also the giant pumpkins need to be brought up to the porch until it's time to distribute them to all the good little Milligan girls and boys for Halloween.
I'm caught up on grading papers, so most of today will again be spent downstairs. I'm making good progress, it's just not my favorite place to work. There's a mid-afternoon nap scheduled as no doubt, I'll be called upon to offer my coaching prowess during tonight's Packers/Vikings game. It's tough, but as we all know, a man's work is never done.
So are the tales (or lack of them) from Pentoga Road...
Brutus and I spent some time last evening discussing tonight's game. Thankfully, he's a Packer fan or the pup would be banished to his dog house. |
