Baby Grady is staying with us this weekend. A guy can't beat getting his diapers changed to make him happy.
September 14, 2013 - Sunday morning
35 degrees/partly cloudy/calm
Pentoga Road

Macrea had some obligations this weekend and Grady's mother had to work, so we were asked if we might watch the little half-pint. Heck, yeah!

Since Sargie had to work on Saturday, I traveled a few miles up the road and met a friend of Macrea's who brought Grady most the way down from Marquette. He slept some, but once awakened, I noticed that as long as the car was moving, he was content to sit in his car seat and ride.

Needless to say, we visited every lake in the area. I drove at a hair-splitting 35 miles an hour which made everyone behind me somewhat irate. I didn't care. Grady was happy. I was happy. Hey, it was a good day!

We arrived home and the little guy was famished after the long trip. I changed his diapers, fixed him a bottle, and we spent the rest of the afternoon watching football.
I asked if he wanted popcorn to go along with that bottle, but he opted for "Grandpa's milk." I don't mind bragging, I make a mighty mean bottle of powered milk mixed with rice. Grady was pulling for Georgia. Personally, I was happy to see South Carolina win.
Grady was one happy boy to see Grandma when she got home from work. It was a love-fest.

How to make a boy mad? Have a big ol' bulldog get between him and the football game on television.

But they later made up and once again became buddies. In fact, Brutus is always close to Grady and slept on the floor alongside of Grady's crib last night. No one was going to come in during the long, dark, hours and steal his little buddy.

Onto non-Grady news. Mom continues to heal and her sodium levels have risen enough that she's scheduled to be moved to the fifth floor, cardio rehab unit, on Monday. She had a few problems this past week, but as of last night, Mom had been up walking a bit, sat up much of the day, and is eager to regain her strength and go home.

I added another shelf in the storage shed on Friday. At this rate, one a day, I'll be done with that chore the week after next. Sargie continues to sort and go through the boxes. She's condensed seven into one tote (on the lower shelf) so far. I think we'll have plenty of room.

Our cold weather is continuing (last night was the third straight for frost). Sargie took this picture of a design Mother Nature composed on her windshield.

I worked several hours on the garage wall Saturday and all that is left is the trim and the application of spray foam into any nooks and crannies. The kitchen (which shares a common wall with the garage) should be MUCH warmer this winter.
Brutus has supervised each and every step of the job. If only he could read a tape measure.
So life continues on Pentoga Road. I hope to finish the garage wall this morning and continue to build another shelf in the storage building. I'm certain Grandma will entertain Grady (or vice versa) until it's time he head home.

Meanwhile, I'll be mentally preparing for the Packers first home game at Lambeau Field in Green Bay later this afternoon. I'll finish whatever I'm doing, come in the house, shower, and put on my green and gold in preparation for my weekly arm chair coaching duties. It's not always easy, but in case you didn't know it, a man's work is never done.

So are the tales from Pentoga Road...
