The cucumber trellis was finished on Sunday |

This summer is shaping up to be a carbon copy of last year. We're receiving rain twice a week, sometimes more, which is great. The temperatures have been registering below normal. I enjoy the cooler temps, but that makes it difficult to grow any long season crops in the garden.
I was up early on Sunday finishing the cucumber trellis that will allow the fruits to grow long and straight. I've experimented with several designs over the years, but I got this idea from Andy and elaborated on it. Time will tell.
We enjoyed Baby Grady on Sunday. Mel and Macrea had the luxury of sleeping in while Sargie took charge of the baby. I held the little guy for well over an hour while Sargie took her shower and worked around the house.
From then on, it was Grandma Sargie who took control. She enjoyed fussing over and holding the baby for the rest of the day.
Time for a bath on the kitchen counter |
The logging chain had gone missing over the winter months. Evidently it had fallen from the tractor last fall when Andy and I were moving a large white birch log and had gone AWOL. The mower deck did what I couldn't... it found it. Thankfully, the chain wrapped above the blades immediately killing the engine and took only a minute or two to reclaim. I also found an old section of chicken wire with the mower. Who needs perfect sight when one has a lawnmower?
I have a podiatrist's appointment this morning and hopefully, she'll give me a shot of cortisone in each foot to relieve the pain caused Morton's Neuroma. I have a growth on the nerve of each foot that runs between the third and fourth toes causing a horrible burning sensation and has caused me to completely stop hiking. A well-placed cortisone shot cured the growth on my left foot several years ago and it's only recently begun hurting again. Hopefully, I'll have the same results and can get active once again.
Time to wake Sargie as she works early today. After my appointment, I'll be coming home and hopefully finish mowing the yard. But then if it continues to rain, an afternoon nap might be in order.
After all, a man's work is never done.
