Abigail and Coleman like Grandpa's talking computer |

Luke called Matt Saturday morning asking if I was ready to
head north to Maine. The kiddies were excited about Grandpa coming to visit and Luke had some time to drive to Portsmouth, New Hampshire, to pick me up, so the
exchange was made mid morning. We bade Jessica and Matt goodbye with a promise
to see them next Thursday evening or Friday morning. Luke, Matt, and I, are
planning on one last game of golf for what is billed as the “Second Annual
Pennington Golf Classic.” Last year, Andy, Matt, and I played and Matt was
crowned the first World Champion.

What fun it was when Coleman was asked to retrieve something
from the room and there was Grandpa! I love happy surprises!
The rest of yesterday was spent playing, talking, laughing,
looking at hideouts, good climbing trees, playing in one bedroom or other, and
watching television. There was a surprise birthday party for one of Luke’s
friends last night to which we were all invited. I declined and opted to stay
home where it was a bit quieter and grade papers. Perfect.
Luke built the chicken coop. I took several pictures and wouldn't mind doing the same. |
We’re enjoying this morning by watching a bit of television
and being lazy. Abigail fixed waffles and I’m on my second cup of coffee. I
find I’m doing “lazy” really well on this trip.
I talked to Sargie several times yesterday. She’s enjoying
her weekend away from work and said last night that she’s going to clean today.
Luke got out a huge ham last night for today’s dinner. Mmm.
Knowing how well that boy can cook, I’m anticipating a great meal. Luke has
often cooked for the other firefighters at the station over the years. In fact,
during his college years, he traded his culinary skills for that of free meals
while he lived at the station.
I hope to watch the Packers game this afternoon, read some
assignments, and continue on with my lazy ways. No doubt, Coleman and Abigail
will have some plans. Of course, there’s the mandatory Sunday afternoon Grandpa
nap. It’s tough, but as we all know, a man’s work is never done.
So are the tales from Pentoga Road…
