May 12, 2013 – Sunday – Mother’s Day
29 degrees/cloudy/snowy/very windy
Pentoga Road
Happy Mother’s Day to moms everywhere. I spoke with Mom
yesterday and she was excited about going to church this morning then out for
lunch with my sister and her family. She deserves no less. I love you, Mom.
We’re going to honor Sargie today by going to Green Bay to
do some shopping. I notice she has her coupons ready and no doubt, has already
scanned the ads for any Mother’s Day sales happening in Title Town.
I think we’ll be attending Kylie’s dance recital in
Oconto, Wisconsin, later in the afternoon. It’s shaping up to be a good
Mother’s Day!
Snow is lying on the ground this morning. The wind is
howling and the temperature is well below freezing. Record breaking lows are
predicted for tonight. Winter is having difficulty transitioning into spring.
It’s a good day to get out of Dodge.
What to do with Brutus? I was going to tie him outside for
the day, but since there’s no insulated doghouse and he’s not used to cold
weather… yet… I think we’ll leave him inside. He makes it just fine all night
(and then some) in the potty department and other than his rawhide bones, is
not a chewer. When not with me, he’s a sleeper. I think we’ll let him slumber
today.
Saturday was a lazy day. I spent several hours finishing the
trim in the upstairs bathroom and feel fortunate that I only ruined one piece.
Since the room is anything but square and level, I had to utilize my pocketknife
and often whittle away at one piece or the other, but in the end, it looks
square. It’s not, but that’ll be our dirty little secret.
I took two naps on Saturday. Evidently I needed both. I
slept well last night and awakened this morning feeling charged and ready for
all the adventures Green Bay has to offer.
Sargie is off on Monday also. I think we’ll spend part of
the day putting the bathroom back together. Hopefully, the snow will be melted
and I’ll continue to spread mulch and wood chips in the garden area, also work
on the mower. After all, a man’s work is never done.
So are the tales from Pentoga Road…
