Brunch on Saturday morning |
March 3, 2013 – Sunday morning
35 degrees/clear/calm
Leesville, Louisiana
Thankfully, this is the last day of chilly weather for this
area. The wind has subsided and it appears today’s going to be beautiful.
Saturday was a mellow day around the young Pennington
household. The girls got their manicures and pedicures and Sargie discovered
that her pre-pampering nerves were for naught. She walked through the front
door after, wearing a huge smile and her big eyes, those beautiful windows to
her soul, told the rest of the story. She loved the whole experience plus she
now has perfect nails all ‘round.
I enjoyed listening to her and Mollie laughing and trading
nail stories. I guess it’s a girl thing that we guys simply can’t relate to. I
was tickled to see both so happy.

Andy and I held down the home front, gabbed and watched some
guy-shows on television. We made a run to the grocery store to get the makings
for super omelets that I concocted for brunch, and along the way, stopped for one
of Andy’s favorite grazing snacks, Girl Scout cookies.
We did a bit of window shopping at Lowes Lumber Saturday evening.
Sargie and I wanted to take advantage of being so close to a major retailer to
price vanities and shower stalls for the small upstairs bathroom. I also priced
on-demand water heaters and tile and brick from which to make a new hearth for
the living room.
You don't buy a new pair of shoes without trying them on first, do you? |
The day ended with ice cream cones and later, a movie at
home. I finally gave up at 11 PM and went to bed. My eyes simply wouldn’t stay
open.
Mollie and Sargie are going to Mass this morning. I think I’ll
try talking Andy into taking a walk around the neighborhood. All I’ve done
since arriving is eat. I need to do something to get the blood flowing again.
Andy was playing mystery shopper and checking up on some of family's seed displays. Yeah... |
We leave for New Orleans in the morning for a couple of
days. We’re really looking forward to visiting The Big Easy, listening to some
music, shopping, and eating some of the best food in the South.
Oops, the coffee cup is empty. Time for a refill then catch
up on the news. After all, a man’s work is never done.
So are the tales from Pentoga Road by way of Leesville,
Louisiana…
No comment here, but I bet some of his fellow oil field workers might have some. |
