The drive and patio, all ready for the next snowfall |

Things are coming together for our trip to Mom’s in Terre Haute, Indiana, Saturday morning. The house is clean, the
laundry is done, and I talked with a very happy girl just a few minutes ago.
Sargie had closed the Vision Center and was officially on vacation, enjoying
the first few moments of nine full days away from work. As she said, she can’t
remember the last time she had nine days in a row off. Sargie’s happy! I’m
happy! For tonight, the whole world is happy!
Thursday was a snowy and dreary day. It was Sargie’s day off
this week and with the lousy weather, we really didn’t do anything other than
venture to town in the afternoon for a few groceries and to get gas and diesel
fuel.
I fried fish, shrimp, sweet potato fries, and French fries
last night for supper. Once again, we ate like the little piggies we know how
to be.
We played a cutthroat game of rummy last night and I was
actually victorious! I’ve learned to appreciate my victories since they are few
and far between.
This morning dawned clear and cold. Neighbor Mike and I were
going to head to the lake at sunrise, but with temperatures hovering around
zero, we decided to wait until later in the morning.
Rather than a complete shelter, I used the Clam today as a wind break. With the black interior absorbing the sun's rays, it actually got hot while sitting inside. |
We fished for two hours with mixed results and decided to
break for a few hours and meet at the lake this afternoon. I used the time at
home to have lunch and grade assignments. As of 2 PM, I was completely caught
up. The rest will have to wait.
Fishing today was slower than usual, although by day’s end,
we had a five gallon bucket filled with nice-sized bluegill and crappies,
several of which were jumbos.
Yooper Brother Mark joined us mid afternoon. Mike and I were
in a real lull. Mark grabbed a pole, and two minutes later, pulled out a jumbo
bluegill. The boy seemed to have the touch.
Sargie will be home in a while and no doubt, will begin
packing for our adventure to Indiana. Hopefully, we’ll arrive at Mom’s sometime
late Saturday afternoon or early evening. For sure, we’re excited.
I need to end and get this uploaded. There are clothes to
pack and other goodies too numerous to mention that need to be readied for the
upcoming trip. After all, a man’s work is never done.
So are the tales from Pentoga Road…
