We were going to have a professional photographer take our Christmas portraits this year, but found this really great deal! (I am so dead when Sargie sees that I've uploaded these pictures...) |
December 14, 2012 – Friday
28 degrees/sunny
Green Bay, Wisconsin
We left Pentoga Road yesterday morning around 8:15 and
pointed the nose of the Kia straight south towards Green Bay. Traffic was
light, especially taking the rural county roads, and other than the bothersome
glare of the sun bouncing off the snow, conditions were perfect.
Our first stop was at Sam’s Club where we managed to fill a
cart with goodies. Unfortunately, most were for our own personal use. One doesn’t
come to Green Bay and not fill up on household necessities at Sam’t Club!
It wasn’t until we arrived at the mall that Sargie shifted
her shopping self into overdrive. I soon found a comfortable chair in the
middle of the mall and joined a herd of other old guys, all of whom were passing time as their better
halves shopped.
And so went the day. My primary responsibility was to meet
with Sargie and gather an armload of treasures to lock in the car.
We left the mall by late afternoon and found a room at the
local Ramada Inn. After checking in, we drove across the Fox River to Harbor
Freight where, armed with a super coupon flyer, I restocked my shop after a
summer of building and fixing.
Sargie is smoking a pretend cigarette and being a woman of leisure after a very full day of shopping. |
We celebrated Sargie’s birthday in style last night by
dining at the Long Horn Steak House. Sargie had a great filet. I dined on an 18
oz rib eye. Both were to die-for-good.
We hope to finish shopping today in time that we might
arrive home before dark. This is a long break for Sargie, four days off in a
row, so she doesn’t have to worry about work this weekend. For that, we’re both
grateful.
I’m sure Aaron, Clay, and Donald, will be calling me this
morning; probably will want to meet for coffee and discuss game strategies for
the upcoming Bear’s game on Sunday. My cell is on so I don’t miss their call. I’ve
got a few plays and ideas I’d like to float by them. After all, a man’s work is
never done.
