Shea, Squirt, me, Kylie, Logan, and Sargie
at Logan's Confirmation Sunday afternoon

May 3, 2021 - Monday morning
48 degrees/light rain/calm winds
Pentoga Road

Yes, indeed, we made our way to Oconto, Wisconsin, late Sunday morning to attend the mass for Logan's confirmation.  I did manage to take advantage of the beautiful weather for outside activities before leaving.

My walk was a good one and I practiced making yet another hiking video. As with the past fifty or a hundred, it will probably not see the light of the internet.

I have no problem walking and talking, (when has talking ever been a problem?) but am still practicing my editing skills. Also, the business of using a selfie stick is foreign to me. It works well, but isn't my cup of tea.

Home and with a bit of time remaining before leaving for Oconto, I busied myself planting cucumber, squash, melon, and pumpkin seeds in potting soil.

You may remember that last year's germination was horrible due to the strange spring. Temperatures were below freezing one night, then into the upper 70's the next day. Our germination rate was nearly zero and I had to replant much of the garden the second week of June, almost too late for these northern climes.

With everything sitting on germination pads in the indoor greenhouse, I hurried inside, took a shower, and we were soon off to attend Logan's confirmation.

The drive to Oconto was a good one. The mass was long. Being a good Protestant boy, I've never understood all the intricacies of the Catholic faith and yesterday's service was no exception.

What I can say with certainty is that it was long, almost two hours long.

We found seats in the overflow room and were lucky enough to have chairs with padding and arms. Sitting with Shea, Squirt kept us occupied for most of the time.

She never cried or whined and was content to play with Grandma Sargie's necklace or chew on my iPhone.

The priest seemed like a nice enough guy, but he was foreign, very foreign and hard to understand. I think he was from India, spoke very fast, and occasionally spoke/sang in what I believe was the Hindi language.

None-the-less, after two hours of pomp, Logan was confirmed with Sargie's son, Cale, as his sponsor.

The special treat of the day was the dinner we enjoyed on our way home at the Gateway Restaurant in Crivitz, Wisconsin. Specializing in broasted chicken along with mashed potatoes and corn, Sargie and I weren't shy about diving right in.

It's dark and rainy this morning. Sargie has an 8 AM dentist's appointment to have her tooth cleaned. I'll head out for my walk when she leaves then plan to spend the rest of the day in the shop.

If it quits raining, I may wander out to the garden pond and watch the goldfish spawn. Sargie and I spent some time yesterday morning watching the overly hormonal boys chase the girls.

Time to get this uploaded and practice editing yesterday's video. After all, a man's work is never done.

So are the tales from Pentoga Road...
