It must be true. Spring really is here.
We'll be eating fresh asparagus in the next few days.

Occasionally, life doesn't see fair, but when we get to enjoy the first picking of asparagus in the early spring, our world becomes a little better.

A simple stalk of asparagus signals that the gardening season has really begun. From now until late September, there'll rarely be a week go by that we aren't enjoying some fruit or vegetable from the garden or orchard, asparagus, rhubarb, honeyberries, vegetables, apples, blueberries, and so on.

I don't particularly care for most vegetables purchased in the store, especially those that come in a can, but when they are picked fresh from the garden, I'm the first in line with plate in hand.

Like I said, our world's about to become just a little better.

We had guests yesterday morning. Wes and Linda stopped by to see the pond and ask a million  who/what/how/why questions concerning how to go about digging, building, and maintaining their own pond.

Their enthusiasm was contagious and I delighted in seeing the same excitement in their eyes that I felt three years ago prior to digging ours.

I continued my work in the garden early yesterday morning. Beginning to spread the cow manure, I managed to till a couple of beds and even planted a few canna bulbs.

It appears all survived in good shape after being stored in the basement through the winter months. Those planted yesterday will frame the ends of the far garden beds.

We wanted to take advantage of a one day meat sale in Iron Mountain so we stopped at the grocery, also Home Depot for a piece of guttering as well as Ross and Holly's.

Other than good conversation, I enjoyed playing with Creed, Marley and Aubrey's pup. G'Pop and Grandma are dogsitting for a few days.

We went to the local pet store on our way out of town and picked up thirty Rosies, a reddish fresh water minnow and fifteen seventeen cent goldfish to replace those few that died over the winter and this spring. They should be four to six inches long by summer's end.

I'm going for my walk in a few minutes then will drive to town to pick up the last of the parts needed for Mechanic Dave to finish repairing the Kia. He seems to think it will be done today. We'll take the Kia to Iron Mountain this next week for four new tires and a front end alignment. After that, it ought to be good for another 300,000 miles.

Okay, the sun's up and I've got restless feet. Time to rock 'n roll.

After all, a man's work is never done.

So are the tales from Pentoga Road...

I might have gotten a bit of sun yesterday while working in the garden.
