Yooper Brother Mark and Sheri's beautiful lights on their home in Caspian

Before I talk about other things this morning, let me speak of munchkins. I have a lot of respect for those who are rough and tough, not crying, whiny, mama's boys (or girls).

Like his older cousins, grandson,Wes, is one tough nut. Despite plowing a long and deep furrow while sledding, resulting in a swollen face, he laughed, got up, and trudged back up the hill for more. He's definitely a Pennington.

I'll guarantee you, Dad's looking down from Heaven, cheering and no doubt saying, "That'a boy, Wes! Go get 'em little buddy!"

I love to see children (and adults) having good, old fashioned, fun. No computers, no phones, just enjoying the simple pleasures of life riding down a steep hill on a sled. All four of my sons make sure their kiddies get to experience the same wintertime fun they had growing up. I'm proud of them all, sons and grandchildren.

Arriving home from Wednesday's walk, I began cleaning the barn so both the Blazer and Kia could be put under cover.

Don't click your tongue at me. It's a barn, NOT a garage. Barns are supposed to be somewhat messy, a gathering place for items that you don't know where else to put them.

It took most of the day, but in the end, both vehicles were parked under cover.

Tim and Rose stopped over later in the afternoon for a good visit. It had been a long time since we'd seen our friends and as always, it was good to catch up on the news in each others lives.

Rose gave us the most beautiful hand knitted quilt. I'm ashamed to say I didn't take a picture while they were here, but I definitely will soon. It's a real piece of art. Put it this way, there won't be any grandkids draping it over chairs, using it to make a fort in the living room.

Sargie and I spent most of last evening driving around the area and seeing those Christmas lights that we'd missed earlier this week. As always, here are some pictures.

The tank guards the gates of Caspian against all enemies, foreign and domestic. Or maybe, it's decommissioned, sealed, and has been on display for years.

Tonight brings the annual Milligan Christmas Eve Celebration. Mel, Macrea, and Hambone, are hosting this year's gathering in Iron Mountain. We'll be leaving later this afternoon and arriving a bit early to help with any last minute preparations.

Tomorrow is Christmas day. No doubt, I'll be up well before daylight penning any Christmas thoughts. Hard to believe it's here already.

OK, time to go for my morning walk.

After all, a man's work is never done.

So are the tales from Pentoga Road...
