Hambone helped Grandma Sargie complete this year's wrapping on Sunday

December 21, 2020 - Monday morning
24 degrees/snow/calm winds
Pentoga Road

It feels as though we are living in a snow globe this morning and I love it. Light, fluffy, snow is falling, no, it's more like dancing towards the ground from the heavens. Honestly, I can hardly wait for it to be light enough so I can go for my morning walk.

There's something about shuffling through Christmas snow, kicking up little clouds of the stuff as I walk along, that ensures the day begins on the right foot... no pun intended.

Grandma Sargie and Hambone did, indeed, finish the wrapping yesterday morning. Packages were put in gently used Amazon boxes and readied to be sent to the East Coast today. Time kind of got away from us this season. As Sargie said, it seems as though last summer finally arrived and here we are, celebrating Christmas.

With the wrapping completed, the dining room is back to its normal holiday self.

My friend, Norriene (of the famous Big Jim and Norriene duo) sent a few pictures from a week ago when she and her friend, Baiba, from Latvia, along with Kailynn and Big Jim, placed wreaths on the graves in the local veterans cemetery.

As I understand it, it's something the family does every holiday season.

I admire Norriene and Big Jim's dedication to Christmas, but even more, I love that they honor our veterans and ensure they aren't forgotten during this most holy time of the year.

We met Macrea yesterday afternoon for the second Hambone exchange in less than twenty four hours. Seems his mama was decorating Christmas cookies and there's something about a young boy, Christmas, cookies, and tubs and tubs of homemade frosting that draws a lad home.

We'll see Hambone Christmas Eve.

Sargie and I spent a couple of hours Sunday evening riding around looking at Christmas lights. It's one of her favorite holiday things to do and I enjoy it as well.

I snapped well over a hundred pictures, but will post only a few. We drove around all of Crystal Falls last night as well as Iron River. Our next light-peeping outing begins in Stambough before driving up and down every street in Caspian and Gasstra. After that, we'll have covered the entire area.

It's finally daylight and time to go for my Christmastime walk. Who knows, I may even catch a few falling flakes on my tongue.

On today's agenda: we have to get to the Post Office to send the last of the packages. There's a towel rack to fix in the bathroom and a shop to warm so I can make a mess in the name of woodworking.

Otherwise, Sargie Pants and I may just snuggle under a blanket and enjoy the day with thoughts of sugar plums dancing in our heads.

After all, a man's work is never done.

So are the tales from Pentoga Road...
