December 18, 2020 - Friday morning
15 degrees/cloudy/calm winds
Wausau, Wisconsin
After a wonderful tour of House on the Rock in southwest Wisconsin on Thursday, we're currently in Wausau and will be heading home later today.
The tour was breathtaking. If the decorations, lights, and music, don't put one in the Christmas spirit, nothing will.
A plus from touring on a Thursday morning is that visitors were few and far between, as in none. Rather than being jostled around by hundreds of other tourists, we were able to take our time. Best of all, we didn't have to wear masks. For a few hours Thursday morning, our world was back to being normal.
You like Santa and Christmas trees? I've never seen so many Santas in one place. Big ones, little ones, and those in between.
I'll quit writing and simply upload the pictures. I think all are fairly self explanatory.
The Affinity Room is an attraction that isn't for the weak of heart. Hanging over a cliff, it gives one the impression he's going to walk off the face of the earth. In fact, Sargie refused to enter and opted to watch.
Our favorite display is the world's largest carousel. We spent time gawking as calliope music played from all sides of the large room.
It was early afternoon before we headed north, driving on curvy two lane roads through the hilly countryside of southwest Wisconsin.
With the music blaring, Sargie and I sang and boogied all the way to Stevens Point, Wisconsin, where we stopped for a shopping break.
We later drove onto Wausau. Using Priceline, Sargie had procured an inexpensive hotel room. After a quick meal at Applebee's, we spent a quiet evening in our room.
A bit more shopping is on the agenda for this morning before we drive the last two and a half hours home.
The weather is cold and beautiful and Christmas is in the air.
Time to get the day started.
After all, a man's work is never done.
So are the tales from Pentoga Road...
