November 2, 2020 - Monday morning
26 degrees/clear skies/windy
Pentoga Road
I got up this morning and looked out the window to see if the house was still firmly attached to the foundation. It wouldn't have surprised me to have found a yellow brick road filled with dancing Munchkins and a good looking, babe, witch, named Glenda.
Man, the wind howled yesterday. With gusts occasionally exceeding fifty mph, it was a good day to be on the inside looking out.
My walk was an interesting one. The wind was out of the north as I started trekking up the largest north facing hill. Being pushed from behind, I almost ran up the steep incline and once there, pronounced myself fit, young, and heck, as long as I'm dreaming, good looking, and ready to conquer the world.
It seemed strange to actually have to work coming back down as I bent into the wind.
The rest of the day was spent doing, well, basically nothing. Sargie and I took our usual ride, but again, as with the walk, it was short and windy.
The fishing rod was left in the car when we stopped by one of our local lakes. I was fearful that a sloppy cast into the wind might cause the lure to boomerang and land with treble hooks firmly imbedded between the eyes.
Sargie kept busy in the house so I moved my paints inside from the shop and worked at the dining room table to keep her company.
There are three patterns evenly spaced on the bowl and so far, I'm not too impressed. On the other hand, I can only paint so much before having to set the bowl aside to dry before continuing.
Simply put, it's a work in progress.
The wind is to subside today and temperatures to rise. Carl the Weatherman is still predicting sixty-plus degree temperatures this week.
Seeing is believing.
Les, the Window Man, is stopping by this morning to give us an estimate to replace the old windows in the front dining room. We've noticed such a big difference with those that we replaced a year and a half ago in the living room that eventually, we'd like to have all new windows throughout our hundred year old home.
We'll make a stop in Crystal Falls at the rental place today and arrange to pick up a floor sander this week. The kitchen floor badly needs a new look and it's time.
Other than that, I hope to continue work on the bowl.
After all, every day's a holiday, every meal a feast.
So are the tales from Pentoga Road...
