Jimmy and I were having a good man to bird talk Tuesday afternoon. He's also learning to give kisses.

October 21, 2020 - Wednesday morning
32 degrees/cloudy skies/breezy
Pentoga Road

It appears Carl the Weatherman nailed the forecast on this one as we received close to six inches of heavy snow overnight. It's to warm somewhat and HOPEFULLY, this snow will melt sometime before next April.

I'd post a picture, but it would look just like those I uploaded a couple of days ago from the last snowfall. I have a feeling there's going to be quite a few over the next six months.

Knowing snow was forecast, I went for my usual walk Tuesday morning. The day was clear, very cold, in the teens, and sunny.

I began digging flower bulbs, cannas and dahlias, once I arrived back home. Seems the one bulb per plant that went into the ground last spring produced ten to fifteen over the summer months.

Deer resistant, I'll be planting cannas all over the property next spring as there were enough to fill the wagon. All were taken downstairs and laid out on a paper in the basement to dry.

Next on the agenda was to gather all the lighted pavers from around the pond.

We really enjoyed the circle of light they created after dark this summer. I'd be willing to bet that more than one private pilot has done a double take while flying over in the twilight hours.

Sargie and I worked the entire afternoon emptying large flower pots and storing away anything that might have been forgotten.

The dirt from the large pots was used to fill in the holes that were created from digging rocks the other day.

I was able to smooth over most. We'll plant grass seed once the snow melts, hopefully yet this fall, that should sprout next spring.

Fairly certain that the lawn is finished growing for the year, Sargie brought the mower down from the barn to the storage container.

I'd added Stabil to keep the gas up to par over the winter months before she started the engine. My last act of this fall's readiness for winter was to remove the battery from Sargie's mower. It, along with those from the other power equipment, will be stored down the basement.

I've been working with Jimmy, trying to teach the overly friendly Chickadee some new tricks. He/she's getting pretty good at giving kisses, well, to me. The bird isn't so easy with others and after a quick fly by and inspection, pretty much ignores everyone else.

In family pictures, Shea sent this latest photo of Makenna. Isn't she a cutie pie, happy, dolly?

The snow plow just went by, so Sargie's off to meet sister, Nancy, this morning.  The two will make their way onto Escanaba for a girl day. I'm going for my walk before heading to the shop for a solitary guilt-free guy day.

Sounds perfect to me.

After all, a man's work is never done.

So are the tales from Pentoga Road...
