Pentoga Road
It'll be long on pictures and short on words this morning as I'm skipping my usual morning walk in favor of painting as much as possible before the heat of the day.
Before I get too far along, CNN had an article that describes the procedure I've been doing for the past several years that saved my eyesight.
Legally blind and quickly heading downhill a few years ago, thanks to a research scientist at the University of Wisconsin and an ophthalmologist who was willing to take a risk with me, my sight has been returned to normal.
I'm a walking, talking, miracle. If you don't believe it, just read the article. It's my story.
I worked in the garden for a bit on Tuesday morning after my walk.
One row of beets was thinned so we'll be enjoying delicious beet greens with tonight's supper.
Most of Tuesday was spent painting in the sweltering heat. The east side of the house was finished as well as much of the south side.
We quit shortly after noon to let the heat of the day pass. I spent some time in the shop where I began to fashion a bowl.
We were back outside later in the afternoon, painting in the shade of the large spruce tree. Fearful of heights, I put on my big boy pants and climbed the ladder.
I've not been the only one painting from a higher rung. While painting from the ground last night, I turned around and found Sargie several feet up in the air.
It was getting towards dark when we quit with just a bit of the south side left. Painting around the windows and trim requires a steady hand and both of us were simply too tired to concentrate on any detail work. We'll continue with that first thing this morning.
On today's agenda:
We should finish with the entire house by noon or shortly thereafter. We scraped and pressure washed the front last night and it's ready for its new coat of paint.
Time to get this show on the road. Sargie's up early and is almost ready to begin. I'm going to get this uploaded and start stirring the paint.
After all, a man's work and that of his bride is never done.
So are the tales from Pentoga Road...
Decked out for the Fourth of July With the hot and dry conditions, Sargie has been watering her flowers nightly. I'll be painting the strip over the porch roof later this morning. |
