Congratulations to Shea and Nicki on the birth of the newest member of our family. Born late Saturday afternoon, both mama and baby are just fine following a sometimes long and contentious pregnancy.

That's grandbaby number eleven.

Makenna wasn't the only member of the Milligan clan celebrating a birthday on Saturday. It was niece, Aria's, first. Though the rest of the birthday's are treated as any other, first birthday's in the Milligan clan are a reason to celebrate.

I'm getting ahead of myself. Let me back up a bit.

Saturday began with my usual walk. I met Rose and Tim and together, the three of us trekked to the Pentoga Bridge and back.

Hundreds of thousands of geese continue their annual springtime migration to the north
I had some pallet wood left over from an earlier project so while the trailer was attached to the Blazer, we hauled that to Tim and Rose's house. They are using it to make an accent wall in their kitchen.

Initially, I was going to go to the plant for a load of firewood, but with time getting short, I opted to stay home and put up the pea trellis in the garden.

Sargie and I drove to Iron Mountain early in the afternoon and enjoyed the afternoon celebrating young Aria's first birthday.

By afternoon's end, there were probably fifty or more people from both sides of the family in attendance.

The party began to wind down early in the evening. Though Hambone wasn't to begin his stay on Pentoga Road until this afternoon, he came home with us last night so his parents could enjoy themselves at last night's Milligan cousin bonfire.

After a quick session of catching tadpoles in the pond, Hambone and I called it a day and came inside. We spent the evening snuggled under a blanket on the couch watch television. No doubt, there'll be many more pollywog catching opportunities as this coming week progresses.

It's daylight and time to head to the plant for a load of firewood. I'll be returning home to go for my walk before starting the smoker to do a large pork loin for dinner later this afternoon.

Time to get this day started.

After all, a man's work is never done.

So are the tales from Pentoga Road...
