December 17, 2019 - Tuesday morning
7 degrees/cloudy/calm winds
Pentoga Road
It's a short one this morning as I slept right up to the alarm, Sargie has to work, and I have an appointment with Dr. Katie.
We slip an slid our way to Rhinelander Monday morning. Most of the roads were bare, but one was fairly snow covered and icy. It's a good thing we weren't in a hurry.
At least the scenery made up for the less than perfect driving conditions.
We spent hours shopping, if not for Christmas presents, then for groceries.
I think our Christmas shopping is almost finished, at least I hope so. By Tuesday afternoon, I was shopped out.
One of the reasons we went to Rhinelander was to buy a new tire for the wheelbarrow.
We forgot to get one.
I think the forgetfulness was a result of shopping PTSD, dodging carts, navigating full parking lots, and enduring the occasional rude shopper or clerk.
The sun was setting and we were on Pentoga Road, less than a mile from home, when we almost ran over a flock of turkeys.
Rather than get out of the way, they ran and ran and ran down the road in front of us before finally taking to the air.
Sargie's working today at the eye clinic. I have my physical this morning then Sargie and I will meet at noon to attend Hambone's kindergarten Christmas concert.
I hope to be home fairly early in the afternoon and spend the rest of the day in the shop. With the shopping finished, all that's left is the shop work.
After all, a man's work is never done.
So are the tales from Pentoga Road....
It's up, up, and away! |
