Brother-in-law, Ross, sent this picture, taken from their back deck, saying they have all their ducks in a row.
November 2, 2018 - Saturday morning
27 degrees/partly cloudy/calm winds
Pentoga Road

Yep, I've noticed the flocks of ducks and geese heading south have become almost nonexistent. It appears most have already flown the coop and the few that remain will need to put on their hats and mittens to make the trip.

It's getting cold out there.

I just came inside after starting the heat in the shop. The temperatures in the heavily insulated room are beginning to dip towards the freezing mark so one of today's projects will be to put all the paints and glues in the heated chest where they are stored for the winter months.

For sure, summer's over.

Friday was a busy one at Florence Elementary. The first grade class, not the same one I subbed in for the first two days of this past week, was a bit... active.

Normally well behaved, three of four of the ten first graders were still clearly influenced by the massive amounts of Halloween sugar they'd inhaled the day before. In fact, one boy and I had to have a good old-fashioned, Mr. P, conversation that left him in tears. It made me sad, but there can only be one big bobcat in a room of bobkitties and it wasn't going to be him.

We quickly came to an understanding and the rest of the day proceeded in a more orderly fashion. In fact, as the day went along, it was obvious the effects of too much sugar was wearing off. By day's end, the munchkins were back to normal.

Mom commented about how classrooms have changed so much over the years. She's correct. Gone are the desks and neat orderly rows for the little ones. The upper grades use desks, but there are nothing but tables for the babies.

Sargie worked around the house all day yesterday and then outside for a couple of hours. Left to her own devices, the girl's a working machine! She has the house AND yard looking better than ever.

Andy sent a picture taken aboard his boat of a chain being cut used to anchor a large oil rig just off the coast of Equatorial Guinea Africa .

Check out the size of those links. Andy serves as an advisor to all the crews on the boat, from the Captain down to the laborers.

The shop should be fairly warm, so I think I'll head out and begin making Christmas gifts. I've decided that the grandbabies and their parents, will receive homemade gifts this year and since there's a herd, a gaggle, a flock, a school, a swarm, of grandbabies, I best get started.

After all, a man's work is never done.

So are the tales from Pentoga Road...

Niece Marley was a hippy chick this year
