It's blueberry time on Pentoga Road
September 1, 2019 - Sunday morning
40 degrees/clear skies/calm winds
Pentoga Road

It's looks to be a near perfect day for the Mighty Milligan Labor Day Celebration. *Knock on wood*, we've had decent weather each and every year we've hosted the family event and it appears today will be no exception. Still, the barn, shop, and garage, are clean and ready for an over flow crowd should an errant cloud come wandering overhead.

Hey, look at this hit my grandson, Coleman, made in their first football game of the year. In eighth grade, the kid's a beast. The block was completely legal and no flag was thrown. (For those who may not know, click on the arrow, then once it begins to load, you can enlarge the video by clicking on the square box in the lower right hand corner. Push escape to go back to the regular screen.)

I'm happy to see the player he blocked got right up and went back to the huddle. I'm told whoever Coleman blocked the next time didn't get up quite so quickly.

My future Green Bay Packers middle linebacker also had a tremendous tackle during a scrimmage a couple of days ago. You'll be able to recognize him.

I'm already anticipating those season tickets to all the Packers games once he is drafted... in ten years or so. Now he just needs to gain another two hundred pounds.

Hey, a grandpa can dream, can't he?

There's not much to talk about yesterday other than we were scurrying around the place in preparation of today's family gathering. Sargie spiffed up the house a bit. I did the same outside and in the barn.

Like most northerners, I have two distinct modes, summer and winter. Yesterday, I carted the summer stuff and that which has been used to prepare for the winter to the storage container in exchange for what I'll need this winter in the barn. Antifreeze has been used and put away, tools that will not be needed are stored, hydraulic fluid, lumber picked up, water seal, etc. etc. There's now room for the Blazer and Equinox to be under cover.

People should begin to arrive today between noon and one. I have a bunch of little errands to finish this morning, go to town for ice, and all those last minute things. I'll be starting the smoker fairly soon to smoke a large pork loin. The brats and burgers will be done later today on the grill, salads are ready, and I promised Sargie I'd make a seafood chip dip.

Time to sign off and get busy. The clock's ticking!

After all, a man's work is never done.

So are the tales from Pentoga Road...

A clean barn is a happy barn!
