Yooper Brother Mark and I attended the Home Show in Iron River Saturday afternoon
April 15, 2018 - Sunday
19 degrees/snow/wind
Pentoga Road

I have two good reasons for not uploading a blog Saturday morning. One, there  was little to write about, and two, we had no electricity. It's hard to get a computer and internet to work when we're wandering around in the dark trying to assume our daily early-morning chores. Power was restored shortly after 9 AM.

I guess the big news is the winter storm that's dumping snow outside, although, so far, only a couple of inches have fallen. Unfortunately, as with the old Carpenters song, it's only just begun. Snow is predicted to fall into Monday morning.

Other than the weather making news (all around the country) NOTHING has happened on Pentoga Road during the past two days. Friday was spent cleaning maple equipment, but mostly reading and being lazy. Saturday was the even less active.

With no electricity, Sargie and I left the house around 6:30 Saturday morning and enjoyed a wonderful breakfast at a small mom and pop cafe in Florence, Wisconsin. We later drove onto Iron Mountain where I bade her goodbye and came back home.

I did little yesterday other than read, keep the fire going, cleaned house, and maybe, I might have taken a bit of an hour nap. I probably should have put the plow on the four wheeler, but that can happen later today. It all depends on how high the temperature climbs. If the snow is too wet and heavy, the plow is basically worthless, but then, so is the snow blower. I'll play it by ear. With highs predicted to get into the 50's by week's end, it may just have to melt.

My grandson, Coleman, had day surgery on Saturday. Nothing major, he was in in the morning and home by the afternoon.

I heard from Luke last evening that he's doing just fine, although he'll be a bit sore over the next few days.

Yooper Brother Mark stopped out for a visit and to bring me a beautiful piece of cherry wood. We visited for a while, then decided to go to the Home Show in Iron Mountain.

I found exactly what I want for my birthday (in a few months.)

It's a side-by-side ATV with a hydraulic lift/dump box. I'd love the small snow blower to be included also. Price: $23,000.

Maybe we'll get two, one for Sargie and one for me.

Yeah, that ain't gonna happen.

Mark and I visited with different people, but really, there weren't that many booths. It's a small community in a rural area, so the big businesses from away didn't bother to come.

That's Jenna, Jerad's beautiful significant other. Both were working the Caspian Fire Department table.

Back home, I decided to clean the first floor of the house so Sargie wouldn't feel like she had to jump out of bed on her day off and do house work.

I received a wonderful video from three of my grandbabies, Ellie, Wyatt, and Cody.

We seldom get to see each other, but do keep in touch through texts, phone, and video. This is one I'll keep forever.

So what's today bring? Sargie's off and is still sleeping.

You know what? Now that the fire is going, the house warm, and a couple of cups of coffee have been sipped, I may just go back upstairs and crawl back into bed. I doubt we'll have any visitors today and it's certain we'll not be going anywhere.

Yup, that's what I'm going to do.

Nighty night.

After all, a man's work is never done.

So are the tales from Pentoga Road...

Andy sent this of Ivy. Grandpa's not the only one capable of closing his eyes and taking a nap.
