March 20, 2018 - Tuesday evening
65 degrees/clear skies/calm winds
Las Vegas, Nevada

As with all fun vacations, this one is about to end. After six days in Sin City, we'll be boarding a plane at 5 Wednesday morning and winging our way to the east. With any luck at all, we'll be back on Pentoga Road by mid evening tomorrow night.

These past few days have been so much fun. Isabella brought her mommy, Sarah, to Las Vegas for a few days and Yooper Brother Mark and Sheri's little granddaughter was an absolute delight. I've never seen a better behaved three-year-old and she jumped into the Vegas fray like an old pro.

We've been busy. The hot tub has been our friend, especially in the early morning hours. Breakfast, or I should say, brunch, has seen us at the International House of Pancakes, but Denny's was a close second.

Gambling... ah, Diamond Lil left some of her luck in the UP and as of now, it appears we're going to leave about $20 poorer than we arrived. I guess that's not too bad for a week of wild and reckless gambling on the penny slot machines.

We saw a couple of shows with my favorite being Cirque du Soleil. It was almost an hour and a half of nonstop action, beautiful music, dancing, and acrobatics. At one point, the aerial ballet was so touching that I had tears in my eyes. I've not seen anything so beautiful in many years.

Mark and I took a roller coaster ride via virtual reality. I'm told that we attracted quite the crowd in the local mall as we sat in two egg shaped moving booths, screaming like little school girls as we experienced a tummy thumping ride through our headsets.

Sargie has done some shopping and as queen of the clearance tables, is bringing home more goodies than she arrived with. I'd expect no less of my bride.

The Pennington legacy is firmly intact with the addition of Weston Matthew Pennington last Sunday. He is Matt (my third son) and Jess's third child and I'm told he's doing just fine. Wes is our tenth grandchild.

As I said, our wonderful vacation is about to end. Hopefully, we'll be back on Pentoga Road tomorrow evening and I hope to be tapping maple trees first thing Thursday morning. I'm hoping to get at least one good week of collecting in before the season is over. It's late, but there should still be more than enough time to make several gallons before the sap "turns."

It's time to pack away the computer and think about heading to bed. 2 AM is going to arrive sooner than I'd like.

Pictures? Hundreds were taken this past week, but they'll have to wait until I get home to download. Worry not, I'm sure I'll be sharing several as the days go on.

It's time to finish packing.

After all, a man's job is never done.

So are the tales from Pentoga Road via Las Vegas, Nevada....
