February 4, 2018 - Sunday evening
1 degree/clear skies/calm winds
Pentoga Road

We're winding up the weekend with Hambone and his mommy and daddy. It's been a wonderful day.

Sunday morning began with a strange happening. I had just finished uploading the blog when I heard a tapping on the window.

I looked and saw nothing. It happened again with the same results. The third time I found the source. Jimmy the chickadee was cold and wanted inside.

Jimmy's been in the house before. Several years ago, he landed on my hat just as I was walking in. The chickadee looked around the room, gave a few chirps, then flew outside as soon as I opened the door.

Jimmy and I go back almost eight years. I don't know how old he is, but my tiniest buddy has to be getting long in the tooth. One might say that he's no spring chicken.

The chickadee was relentless this morning. The more I ignored him, the harder he tapped on the glass. I felt sorry for the little guy, but there was no way I could let him in. After I walked to the window and made eye contact, he gave me one last pitiful look and flew to the bird feeder where he was content to gorge himself on sunflower seeds.

Hambone and I were busy for most of the morning. We cleaned our patio and drive then walked up to Neighbor Mike's to clean his.

We were about halfway up the hill when Hambone decided the hill was too steep and snow too deep. It was then he received a lesson on the laws of gravity and learned it's easier to walk downhill than up.

Mommy and Daddy arrived shortly after lunchtime. After a quick ride to town, we had a wonderful afternoon and especially enjoyed Sargie's barbecued ribs, sweet corn, and baked potatoes for dinner.

The rest of the day was spent simply enjoying each other's company.

Mommy and Grady even played Star Wars with Mommy being Darth Vader.

Grandma Sargie and Grady spent some time watching munchkin videos on her computer, or as Hambone calls it, a "templuter."

As with all good things, the day came to an end. Hambone, Mel, and Macrea left just a short while ago.

Sargie closes the Vision Center Monday evening. I'll go for my walk tomorrow morning then will, no doubt, end up in the shop. I have a few new ideas of projects that I'm anxious to try.

Otherwise, I wouldn't be surprised if there's a nap after lunch. With a high of 12 degrees forecast, I doubt I'll venture too far out the door.

After all, a man's work is never done.

So are the tales from Pentoga Road...
