Auntie Debbie and Aubrey Ann at Sunday's Mighty Milligan Labor Day Celebration |
Labor Day
57 degrees/partly cloudy/windy
Pentoga Road
It felt good to sleep in this morning. I took a Tylenol PM last night just before closing my eyes and other than having to heed nature's call, I slept soundly for nine straight hours.
Yesterday's Mighty Milligan Labor Day Celebration has come and gone. It's kind of like Christmas. A person begins thinking about the special day long before, then readies for the holiday season, decorates, and revels in the anticipation. Then before you know it, it's here and gone.
The first duty of the day was to get the smoker fired up.
The beast was continually fed charcoal and hickory chips throughout the morning. Four hours later, the loins were finished.
Sargie spent the morning doing whatever it is people do before company arrives.
The attendance was smaller than normal, but we had fun, oh yes, we had lots of fun. In addition to the Milligan's, Yooper Brother Mark, Sheri, Jerad, and Jenna, joined us
If anyone went hungry, it was their own fault. We had several kinds of salads, spaghetti, brats, brat patties, sausage, pork loins, Sheri's zucchini bread, and ice cream and cookies for desert.
Never too busy to share a quick pose for her fans, famous JC Penney model of stage, screen, and catalogues everywhere, Nancy, took time from her busy culinary chores for a quick kitchen/Pentoga Road picture.
It seems some people can't stand Nancy's fame and had to photo bomb the picture.
I don't care how old we are, I hope we can always be silly. It's what makes the world go 'round.
The day began to wrap up late in the afternoon. Since we live an hour distant from most, folks wanted to be home before dark.
It had been a fun, laughter-filled day, that ended with hugs, kisses, and I-love-you's.
Perfect. I love a happy ending.
I'm not sure what's happening today. I'll let Sargie make the agenda. I imagine we'll both enjoy each other's company and of course, no off day away from the Vision Center would be complete without a Coke and ride around the countryside.
Time to get another cup of coffee and think deep thoughts.
After all, a man's work is never done.
So are the tales from Pentoga Road...
Ain't she purty? Aubrey was fixing Auntie Sargie's hair complete with a bow. |
