One section of the privacy fence was completed on Tuesday |

60 degrees/rain-thunder/calm winds
Pentoga Road
I would think that with modern technology, the National Weather Service could come a bit closer to accurately predicting the weather. I remember looking at the long term forecast a few days ago and noting that only sunshine and warm temperatures were mentioned. Here's what we're looking at this morning.
It's currently storming and pouring rain and looks as though it will continue over the next two days. Tomorrow's high? 67 degrees.
Whew, was it ever hot and humid Wednesday afternoon. I know Mississippi Brother Garry would have found the 83 degrees comfortable, maybe even chilly, but on Pentoga Road, it felt like an oven.
Of course, with heat and humidity come mosquitoes. Honestly, I'll probably be glowing in the dark sooner rather than later from the many layers of bug dope I've sprayed on myself over the past few weeks.
I guess life is about choices. Let me get this right, coat oneself with chemicals or die from lack of blood. I'll take my chances using the chemicals.
I began work on the privacy fence Tuesday. The first chore was to lay out an eight-foot section making certain everything was square and even.
After the boards were fastened on one side, the section was flipped over with more nailed in the opposing gaps.
I didn't necessarily want a solid fence, but something that would still block the view. I think this design will work. More importantly, it passed the Sargie test.
I quit mid afternoon and decided that I'd build the next (and last) section at a later date. It was hot and sweat kept running in my eyes. They tend to hurt with too much use anyway, I don't need them to burn as well.
I retreated to the shop. It's so well insulated that it remains much cooler than the outside air. I could have worked on a project or at the very least, cleaned, but opted to be lazy and lay back in the recliner with one eye on the tv set, the other shut.
Late afternoon approached and I was getting restless. The current bout of sunshine and warm temperatures has kicked the lawn into overdrive. I filled the mower with gas and spent the rest of the afternoon mowing and trimming.
Sargie was home early and we had brats and sweet corn for supper. The rest of the evening was spent watching America's Got Talent and relaxing.
There's good news regarding what I thought was a leaky garden pond. After shutting down the water falls for almost twenty-four hours, I found the water level remained constant. That means the splashing from the waterfall is gradually emptying the pond. Hopefully, that will be an easy fix.
It's to rain today and tomorrow. I think I'll spend most the time in the shop. I want to make a couple more block names to put on Ebay and maybe solve world hunger while I'm at it.
After all, a man's work is never done.
So are the tales from Pentoga Road...
I wish the yard would look this neat and trimmed all the time. |
