Pentoga Road
Grady must have worn Grandma Sargie and Pawpaw right down to the bone these past two days. The alarm sounded for several seconds this morning before either of us responded. Nothing like a couple of grandparents trying to keep up with a three year old!
Thursday was filled with many small outside activities. Since I needed more pavers and Grady wanted to play in his sandbox... the lower stoop, I opted to do several unattended chores around the yard. Of course, when I went to do them, my shadow followed and I often heard, "Can I do dat?"
We pulled and mowed the old peony stalks from last year, took a load to the burn pile, sowed grass seed, carried in wood, transplanted some rhubarb into Neighbor Mike's garden and the list goes on and on.
I'm looking forward to the day when I can be the one who rides in the wheelbarrow. |
The three of us drove to town later in the afternoon then onto Iron Mountain. We stopped by Home Depot for another load of pavers and a new masonry blade. After, we met Macrea and Mel at the Mexican restaurant for supper.
I felt badly. Grady cried when he learned he couldn't come back to Pentoga Road with us. As my old high school band director used to say at the end of every successful concert, "Keep 'em wanting more."
There'll always be plenty more for Ol' Hambone on Pentoga Road.
Sargie opens today. I'm going for my walk then, weather permitting, will try to finish the entrance area, both stoops. Suddenly, there's a fifty percent chance of rain. Grrr.
It's a short one today. Pawpaw needs to get Grandma Sargie's lunch packed and breakfast on the table. I feel as though I've slept the day away.
After all, a man's work is never done.
So are the tales from Pentoga Road...
