Sargie's making a pasty pie
January 9, 2017 - Monday
8 degrees/cloudy/calm winds
Pentoga Road

An inch of snow fell over night with another three to six forecast for between this evening and tomorrow morning. Sargie's off tomorrow so we don't have to worry about her driving on bad roads. Let 'er snow!

Sunday morning was spent cleaning and cooking. I never did go ice fishing, but opted to go back to bed and snuggle for another couple of hours. I think I fell asleep as soon as my head hit the pillow. It was a nice, lazy, morning.

Sargie and I were up later and immediately began our chores. I opted to dust and sweep the first floor while she started cooking and baking in the kitchen.

When I was finished, I helped her by peeling garden potatoes for her pasty (meat) pie. She also made a delicious apple cake with slices of fresh apples. It ranks right up there as one of my all time favorites.

Yooper Brother Mark and Sheri arrived before the Packer game began and we spent the late afternoon and evening cheering, talking, eating, and laughing. Sheri brought mini German chocolate cupcakes that disappeared all too easily. Needless to say, no one went hungry on Pentoga Road last night.

Sargie and Sheri played multiple games of cribbage.

Mark and I coached the Packers on to victory.

We bade the folks goodbye later in the evening. It's been a long time since we've had that much fun, just being silly while stuffing our faces and laughing so much.

Sargie's back to work this morning. I'm going to head out to the lake for a couple of hours of ice fishing then clean the drive when I get back home. I'd like to finish the vase today and no doubt, I'll find another project to begin work on in the shop. Then of course, there's the distinct possibility of taking an after-lunch nap while sitting by the wood stove.

It's time to wake up Sargie and get this show on the road.

After all, a man's work is never done.

So are the tales from Pentoga Road...
