March 17, 2016 - Thursday
31 degrees/snowy/windy
Pentoga Road

And Happy St. Patrick's Day to you! When one loves a beautiful Irish Catholic girl whose last name is Milligan, he realizes that St Pat's day isn't just any ordinary holiday. Today has a special meaning, an importance that ranks right up there with Christmas, Easter and the 4th of July.

Wednesday's weather turned into a very wet and gloppy affair. I'm not sure how much rain fell, at least two inches, but the snow never really did materialize.

The poor folks to our west received over a foot, but we remained snow-free until late last night. It appears there's about an inch of white stuff on the ground this morning.

Sargie took the Blazer to work, just in case. The forecasted snow never did develop.
I stayed busy Wednesday morning doing laundry, trimming the outside plants that we've kept alive under grow lights all winter in the basement, and playing in the shop.

Brutus's shop bed needed patching and I
took a bit of time to repair a grow light that Mississippi Brother Garry gave me during our visit last month.

I'm currently designing a central vacuum system for the shop that would suck the sawdust from most my power tools into a large vat located outside the shop. Stay tuned, that's a work in progress.

I talked with Garry for a bit on Wednesday. He drives a charter bus part time and has been in Washington DC this week.

I'm thinking of building a pergola in the garden. I don't know... the idea began with building an arch and has progressed. It would cover the area that is now grass at the entrance and expand back to the greenhouse. I'd make the area underneath cobble stone and would be large enough for one or two pieces of lawn furniture. It sounds like a lot of work to me and will require much more deep thought on my part.

Sargie was home early last night. I'd fixed a new type of soup, Tuscan White Bean, and let me tell you, it's not very good. I'll not be making that recipe again. The biscuits I concocted tasted good, a cheddar variety, but they easily fell apart and required a spoon or fork when one wanted a bite. In a nutshell, yesterday's culinary delights were a flop. Oh well, even Edison failed multiple times with the light bulb before he finally succeeded.

Sargie opens today. My only planned activity is a visit to the chiropractor's late this morning. The back continues to feel much better and other than an occasional twinge, it's almost back to normal. I don't know what kind of magic fingers the doctor possesses, but I'd like to have a set of those myself.

It's getting light. Time to begin the day.

After all, a man's work is never done.

So are the tales from Pentoga Road...

Lake Pentoga was completely dry two days ago. It's currently on the rise.
