Work continues in the shop on the new sign |
25 degrees/partly cloudy/very windy
Pentoga Road
Usually a strong wind lulls me to sleep. Last night, it had the opposite affect. I awakened at 2 AM to heed nature's call and that was the end of any meaningful slumber. Evidently Sargie had the same problem. She had difficulty falling off to sleep and was awake most the night.
It was a difficult walk into the wind and snow on Thursday |
Congratulations to Luke for getting a nice buck on Thursday. He said there was a larger one that had been wandering through, but with Luke's season winding down and the bigger deer nowhere to be found, he opted to harvest this nice 150 lb buck.
After completing my three mile stroll Thursday morning, I headed to the shop where I reassembled the snowmobile carburetor. All the jets were cleaned and to make certain, I blew air through each using the compressor. At this stage, I'm putting everything back together in the machine and hopefully, will get it started and finely tuned today. Keep your fingers crossed!
I also worked in the shop cutting out more letters for the new sign. I don't mind saying, I'm having a love affair with the shop. I turn on the large propane heater and let it run for half an hour, then I'm able to either turn it off or dial it to it's lowest setting and comfortably work the rest of the day. On sunny days, the solar heater maintains the heat in the shop.
Yooper Brother Mark picked me up shortly after lunch and we drove to Iron Mountain to load the new windows for their home. We also stopped by to see Sargie and made a run-through of Home Depot. It was a fun afternoon.
Poor Sargie didn't get home until later than scheduled. As luck would have it, someone walked in about the time she was to leave. Sargie closes both today and tomorrow so there's not a lot of relief in sight.
I'm going to work on the snowmobile this morning and when my hands get too cold, retreat to the shop and resume work on the sign. The letters should be finished in the next day or two and then I'll begin sanding each.
It's time for another cup of coffee. I'm undecided if I should think a deep thought this morning. Making that decision constitutes close-to-deep thinking and I should probably save any brain power for later in the day. There's only so much to go around and I hate to waste it all at once.
After all, a man's work is never done.
So are the tales from Pentoga Road...
