Andy played plowman on Wednesday, removing the snow that fell Tuesday afternoon. |

It's a clear and cold one outside our windows this morning, but the weatherman says we're to begin a gradual warm-up into the weekend with highs actually topping out in the low 30's. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
Wednesday was cold and blustery. I spent most of the morning on the phone talking with either Verizon and/or ATT. I was an ATT customer for years, but switched a year ago as those who subscribed to Verizon seemed to have better local coverage.
Initially, on Tuesday night, when I talked with our local Verizon store, they said I would have to purchase one of their cheap phones for about $200. There didn't seem to be any other way. At Sargie's suggestion, I called the national ATT 800 number, told them of my circumstance, and though they could do much better and were willing to buy out the contract year remaining with Verizon, it still would cost me a bit of money.
I next called the 800 Verizon number and told them all I'd been up to and could they do any better than the local store or ATT? In the end, I extended my contract by a year (two years remaining as of now) got another line, am getting a brand new 5C iPhone, and my bill went down by $10 a month. It's due to arrive via Fed Ex tomorrow. Boom. With Sargie's suggestions and Andy's coaching while talking with the representatives from both companies, I think I navigated the waters of digital vocal and data communication fairly well.
Tiring of staying inside, Andy and I headed out the door. He played plowman for the rest of the morning. I grabbed a shovel and the snowblower and together, we cleared the drive and patio down to the bare surfaces.
It was cold, in the teens, and the wind was howling; much too cold to go fishing. What to do? We closed the barn door and began working on the fish shack.
Whoops, the ditch across the road almost pulled the four-wheeler in. Andy rocked it back and forth to get out. |
We soon found that we'd have to take it completely apart in order to add a foot of length and six inches of width.
I began ripping and cutting on the table saw while Andy assembled the new floor.
We finally quit when I cried Uncle. The cold had seeped right through to my bones and tired and chilly, I began making stupid mistakes. We'll finish the shack this morning.

I'm going to grade final papers this morning while Andy's getting up for the day and Sargie's getting ready for work. She opens and should be home early tonight. As mentioned above, Andy and I will finish the shack this morning then it'll be off to the lake. We want to put some meat on the table and regardless, will have a big ol' fish fry before he leaves next Monday.
But before then, it's time to pour a cup of coffee, sit back, close my eyes, listen to the news, and think some mighty deep thoughts. The latest thought is really more of a question. Do I want toast or cereal for breakfast? If only you had my life.
After all, a man's work is never done.
So are the tales from Pentoga Road...
