The ramp and snow braces were added to the storage shed on Friday

The very great news this morning is that Mom is out of the ICU unit and has been moved to the cardiac rehab floor. You may recall, she was to have her heart "shocked" back into rhythm Friday morning. Well, as Mom said, after spending the majority of Thursday night talking to God, asking that her heart might be made right so she wouldn't have to undergo yet another procedure, when the ICU nurse checked early Friday morning, Mom was told that for the first time in many days, her heart was beating as it should and the procedure was unnecessary. Amen.

I talked with Mom last night. My sister, Barb, had been there and brought in several things Mom wanted from her apartment, mostly her cell phone! After all, she serves on several committees and life doesn't stop simply because one is 87 years old and recovering from a double bypass procedure. Mom was tired and looking forward to sleeping soundly through the night. I'll call this morning and see how she's doing, but there's little doubt that she'll soon be up and around, supervising the nurses and doctors, and yes, no doubt will be looking for a committee on which to serve in the hospital.

Friday wasn't nearly as exciting on Pentoga Road. I walked my five miles then began building a ramp for the shed. No mere plywood with braces for me; I wanted something that I would never have to replace again. I mean, who wants to be ninety and be outside building ramps? So, I made it out of treated 2x6's.

The most difficult part was figuring the angles on each end, but thankfully, they seemed to come out okay.

I was going to quit for the day and concentrate on inventing perpetual motion or unlimited, clean, energy, but decided to cut the holes in the barn so I might make and attach two snow braces for the shed.

I'm like Dad... There's just something that seems terribly wrong cutting holes in the wall or roof of an existing building.
Again, it's nothing I really need in the near future, but I would hate to be in Florida during the winter months a few years from now and tell Sargie that we need to come back home and remove several feet of snow from atop the storage unit! And, it's not like I could call Yooper Brother Mark to ask him. There's a good chance he and Sheri will be with us.

I spent the next few hours figuring, measuring angles, cutting, and in the long run, both were attached, one side to poles supporting the entire barn, the other to rafters in the storage unit.

I talked with Andy and he's currently working offshore outside Kenai, Alaska. All he really said is that his digs are nice, it was chilly, and that it seems to rain a lot. Andy will be there for the next month working as both supervisor of his crew and winch operator on a boat servicing various oil rigs.

Sargie was home early last night and we enjoyed tuna salad for supper while watching television. She was tired, as was I, and we were in bed early.

Sargie closes tonight. I'm going to finish the trim on the shed today and possibly seal the flashing on the roof. Other than painting the exterior and adding shelves, I think we'll be able to put that puppy to bed. In fact, I've had passing thoughts of beginning to move the contents of the unit Sargie's been renting this Sunday. On the other hand, I might have to see what football games are being televised locally. After watching the Packers play Thursday night, I have an inkling this could be a very long season for those of us who are fans of the Green and Gold.

It's time to wake Sargie and get the day going. I mean there's news to listen to, coffee to sip, and papers to grade. After all, a man's work is never done.

You have to make hay while the sun shines. Neighbor Mike and his son, Doctor Paul, were down a couple of days ago working on his camp across the road. Mike says that's as high as he's going and will hire someone to finish under the peak.
So are the tales from Pentoga Road...

When Doctor Paul's not performing some type of medical miracle in the form of physical therapy, he enjoys hanging from scaffolding.
