Sargie's stemming strawberries on Sunday evening |

We're up early this morning as today signals the first day back from Sargie's vacation. We both agreed that this past week has been a good one, but as with all good things, sooner or later, it comes to an end. Sargie's going to take a few days off in a couple of weeks when Mom visits.
I've heard of Siamese Twins, but it appears we have a whole family in one strawberry. |
Sunday dawned rainy and stormy. What to do?
We decided to go to the early matinee of the Jersey Boys. It was a good movie, about the beginnings of the group, Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons. We both enjoyed it and have been singing songs the group made famous. In fact, I awakened Sargie this morning by substituting Sargie for Sherry... "Sa-ar-gieee, Sargie Baby, Sa-ar-gie, Sargie Baby." I thought it was creative. The look on her face told me she wasn't nearly as entertained as I was.
We enjoyed eating at a local Chinese restaurant after then made our way home. It had been a good old-fashioned afternoon... a date consisting of a movie and a meal.
I started picking strawberries Sunday evening while Sargie stemmed them. We ended up with three large bowls full... six huge freezer bags filled with sugared berries. They'll taste good next winter.
I'm going to walk my five miles this morning. After, there's plenty to do; the garden, the backhoe and landscaping, the storage shed, trim around the windows, a nap, fishing. If only you had my life... sigh... but then are we surprised? Of course not.
After all, a man's work is never done.
So are the tales from Pentoga Road...
The cabbage are beginning to make heads. Three of the six were lost to cabbage maggots, so I replanted. This is one that made it. |
