Grandma and Brutus, the love story continues |

Pentoga Road
I didn't have time to write this morning, so I thought I'd get these pictures uploaded before times gets away.
Mom was the first off the plane on Wednesday. I swear, the more mature she gets, the younger she becomes.
Speaking of being young, we heard today that my great-nephew and his wife had their first son. That means that Mom is now officially the first of five generations... a great-great grandmother. Congratulations, Mom!! That also makes me a great great uncle, but then, as I tell my niece, Christy, we've known that for a long time.
After leaving the airport on Tuesday, we did a bit of shopping then stopped by the Vision Center to pick up Sargie for lunch and were pleasantly surprised to learn that she was able to take the rest of the day off. We celebrated by going to our favorite Chinese buffet.
The day was very cold, rainy, and windy; so much so that I started a fire in the stove to take the chill out of the house. The heat felt mighty good.
It was cold again this morning and I started the day by making a fire. Brutus was happy to take advantage and resume his winter position of cuddling up to stove on the hearth.
The sun finally came out and with it, seasonal temperatures.
After gabbing for part of the morning with Sargie and Mom, I got busy and began installing more floor joists on the storage unit. It was slow going, but by late this afternoon my efforts were rewarded, I laid the last of the plywood. The floor is finished. I was off by about a half an inch the entire 27 feet, but it all fit without having to modify the base or scab onto the floor joists. Brother Mississippi Garry and Brother Yooper Mark both did well talking me through it.
Sargie mowed the front meadow this afternoon along with doing multiple loads of laundry.
The garden is producing all sorts of veggies now and Mom, Sargie, and I grazed, mostly on snap peas and broccoli tonight. We ended our feeding frenzy with grilled brats, chips, steamed broccoli and zucchini squash.
Potatoes in full blossom |
So things are good on Pentoga Road. We're enjoying Mom by catching up on family news, eating, laughing, and Mom is never far from a good book.
I think I'm going to close and get a big ol' bowl of sherbet and finish the evening grading a few papers.
After all, a man's work is never done...
So are the tales from Pentoga Road...
