Sargie's modeling hats at the insurance salvage store on Sunday afternoon. |
February 10, 2014 – Monday
-19 degrees/partly cloudy/calm
Pentoga Road
The days keep parading by and though it often seems they are
on a crawl, rather than a march, the middle of February is almost upon us.
Spring will soon be here, someday… possibly… maybe… won’t it?
Sunday was a nice, but cold, one. After writing, I took my
five-mile stroll along the lakes. At one point, I stepped off the beaten path
into deep snow and stressed the left knee, but it held and seems to be no worse
for the wear. There’s hope!
After arriving home, I made huge veggie and bacon omelets,
the first of the season. Filled with tomatoes, canned green beans from last
year’s garden, cucumbers, mushrooms, bacon, and cheese, they tasted pretty
good.
Mmm, peanut butter and jelly on homemade bread (toast) and an omelet stuff with goodies. |
We made our usual trip to town for a visit to the Insurance
Liquidators. Sargie purchased some inexpensive coffee for Macrea, I bought a
large bag of rawhide dog bones for Brutus. He gets one a night while we eat
supper. At .33 each, we can afford to indulge him just a bit.
Last night was spent watching the Olympics and sorting seed
catalogues. I’ve sworn that I’ll be done with them by the end of the week. Most
days see them scattered in a semi circle around my recliner where I study
various varieties, make notes, circle a particular kind, then mark the page and
lay the catalogue down. Having over fifty of them results in quite a clutter.
This is the week when that situation will be rectified… maybe.
We enjoyed watching the figure skaters and female
snowboarders perform. One observation… I remember the day when it seemed most
female Olympians tended to be more masculine than some of the males; serious,
sullen, and almost angry.
Today’s modern female athlete, at least those featured last
night, all seemed to be blonde, white-toothed, smiley, good natured,
wave-at-the-camera, hugging, cutie pies with huge personalities to match. I
much prefer today’s modern female athlete. They make me smile.
Sargie’s back to work early today. I’m going to ride part
way with her then walk back home. I see many assignments poured into my inbox
overnight, so I’ll be desk-bound for a goodly part of the day. Otherwise,
Brutus and I might work on the secrets to perpetual motion, or possibly, solve
world hunger and peace… after I take an afternoon nap.
After all, a man’s work is never done.
So are the tales from Pentoga Road…
